Over the weekend, I did a major lipstick declutter. I only got through one drawer— I have yet to tackle my liquid lipsticks and lip pencils/crayons… but it was still a big deal! Even though I had done a big purge before we moved to Las Vegas, my collection was growing at a fast rate and I knew there were tubes I was hanging on to that were long overdue to be tossed.
I swatched almost every lipstick so that I could really get a feel for which shades I gravitate to, and which ones were getting completely ignored. Going through this process not only felt good for the sake of decluttering, but also helped me rediscover old favorites that I’m vowing to use more now that my selection is more limited.

After decluttering, I also re-organized my lipstick a little differently. Previously, I had grouped the same brands together which created a visually appealing system. However, I didn’t find this to be very helpful in terms of finding specific shades as a matter of fact. Now, I’ve grouped shades into color themes which I’m hoping will force me to use more of my lipsticks on a better rotation.
