Best Sweat Proof Drugstore Makeup that Even Humidity Won’t Ruin

The arrival of Summer means sunshine, long weekends, and most of all… sweat. Especially with social plans ramping up, you may be trying to figure out how to sweat-proof your makeup routine, even moreso if you live somewhere that experiences humidity!

Sweat doesn’t have to be the arch nemesis of your makeup look– these drugstore makeup finds can hold their own on the hottest and longest of days. I’ve personally tested almost all of these in the triple-digit Las Vegas summers and on trips to humid climates, but also crowdsourced recommendations from my trusted followers who live in America’s humid southern states.

Best Sweat Proof Drugstore Face Primer: e.l.f. Power Grip Primer ($10)

This is the most long lasting face primer I’ve ever used, and really makes your foundation stick. It has a slightly tacky feel, gripping onto your foundation and holding it in place all day. On top of the fact that my makeup looks freshly applied hours into wearing (and sweating), this primer also keeps product from settling into my fine lines.

Best Sweat Proof Drugstore Foundation: L’Oreal Infallible Fresh Wear Liquid Foundation ($15.99)

I am loyal beyond belief to this foundation, because it has never done me wrong. Despite having a natural finish (not all the way matte, not all the way dewy), it actually stays transfer-proof on the hottest days, with no separation or running. It has medium-to-full buildable coverage, SPF 25, and 40 shades to choose from.

Best Sweat Proof Drugstore Concealer: e.l.f. Camo Concealer ($7)

I’m super picky when it comes to concealer, and this one instantly became a favorite when it stayed out of my deepest creases in my under eye area. I also love using it to cover blemishes– despite being super full coverage and creamy, it blends wonderfully for a seamless look. The original (linked above) has a matte finish that would work very well to combat oil, but I usually prefer using the hydrating version for my combo skin.

Best Sweat Proof Drugstore Brow Gel: NYX The Brow Glue ($9)

The first thing to go awry when I start sweating is my brows, but not when I’ve sealed them with this gel! It’s very thick and a little goes a long way (seriously, over-applying will make them goopy!) and the waterproof formula will keep every hair in place all day through sweat. I love using it to brush my brow hairs up for that feathery look that won’t fall limp.

Best Sweat Proof Drugstore Eyeshadow Primer: NYX HD Eyeshadow Base ($7)

This one was recommended by a few followers in our Facebook group! This pro-quality eyeshadow base helps even out your lids to enhance the color payoff of your eyeshadow, and keep it crease-free. Double down by using waterproof eye makeup, too.

Best Sweat Proof Drugstore Eyeliner: Essence Extreme Lasting Eye Pencil ($3.99)

Ya’ll know this is my favorite for tightlining, but I also often use it to create budge-proof smokey liner. It’s super rich, creamy, blends easily but will set and stay put through anything.

Best Sweat Proof Drugstore Mascara: Maybelline Sky High Mascara ($12.99)

If you love long, lifted lashes, it doesn’t get better than the Sky High Mascara from Maybelline. Even if you buy the normal (non-waterproof) version of this mascara, it is flake and smudge free while remaining easy to remove at the end of the day.

Best Sweat Proof Drugstore Blush: Morphe Blush Balm ($12)

A new favorite of mine, I’ve been wearing this blush practically every single day. It’s a waterproof formula that starts out very creamy and blendable, but sets to a natural finish that looks bouncy while staying put without fading or smearing. I wore it to a wedding in 90% humidity and it stayed transfer-proof (I was blotting sweat away with a paper towel the whole time, lol).

Best Sweat Proof Drugstore Setting Spray: Milani Make It Last Setting Spray ($9.99)

Lock in your makeup with a setting spray to extend the wear time of every step. The Milani Make It Last Setting Spray helps your look last up to 16 hours, and can also be used as a prep step or a refresh if your makeup is looking a little cakey.

Sweat Proof Makeup Tips for Humidity:

• Don’t layer powder. While it may be tempting to add powder every time you see shine come through, this will start to create a cakey appearance when mixed with your sweat and other makeup. Instead, carry your setting spray with you to refresh and extend your look, or use an oil absorbing face roller.
• Use lightweight skin care. Heavy creams can cause your makeup to slip around. Use lighter products in the summer which will also feel more comfortable when underneath foundation.
• Avoid dewy finishes. Dewy makeup typically does not set all the way, always staying a bit wet. These formulas can disrupt easily when sweat starts coming through, and shine will be very noticeable very quickly.
