This post has been sponsored by Physicians Formula. All opinions are my own.

Ya’ll, we have four big new drugstore releases to celebrate, because it’s Physicians Formula’s 80th birthday! That’s right, eighty years of transforming the makeup scene as the first brand to bring makeup with SPF 15, color correcting and mineral makeup to the market. In honor of the milestone, Physicians Formula has released a limited edition capsule collection exclusively on their website and— spoiler alert— I am LIVING for it!

The 80th Anniversary Collection includes four cult-favorite products from years past that were in high demand for a return from fans. While they’re old favorites, these are new-to-me products as they were before my time as a beauty enthusiast. I’m so excited I get to experience them for the first time, and had to share my thoughts so you can pick up the must-haves before they’re gone.

Physicians Formula Le Velvet Foundation ($12.95)

First up: the Le Velvet Foundation, a high-coverage, water-proof cream foundation that has been reformulated for its reappearance without parabens. Also made with SPF 15, you’re getting your dose of skin protection while creating an even base. Cream foundations are typically hit-or-miss for me, so I was a little wary of this one. The formula is very slick, but with a densely packed brush it blends into the skin quickly and easily. With the thin consistency, I was surprised to see how much coverage I got.

The Le Velvet Foundation has been rereleased in four updated shades (top to bottom): Honey Beige, Sand Beige, Ivory and Cream Ivory. My best match was Sand Beige.

Before & After Le Velvet Foundation

I’m experiencing a pretty gnarly breakout on my chin, and it was covered flawlessly— and stayed concealed all night. I went out for friends with drinks, danced to The Killers who were playing live across the street, and my skin looked great at the end of the night. Check out the before and after above, where you can still see a little bit of the breakout’s texture, but none of the redness.

Physicians Formula Eyeshadow Quads ($7.95)

I was very curious about the Eyeshadow Quads. I’ll be honest here, I usually don’t use the brand’s eyeshadow palettes because they lean very shimmery. When I saw that these had a great balance of finishes, including two matte shades per quad, I knew I needed to try them. The texture is so soft and buttery, reminding me of how their Butter Blush feels. I was really impressed with how pigmented they were, as well— even the light matte shades!

The quads come in two options: Classic Nudes and Smoky Plums. Classic Nudes is perfect for creating every day looks while Smoky Plums has you covered for the sultry night eyes. The shades blend easily and without becoming muddy, so you’re golden for both natural and dramatic looks.

Physicians Formula Hypoallergenic Lipstick ($6.95)

Can I get a YAAASSSS over here??! I literally asked Physicians Formula for lipsticks last time I hung out with the brand, and they delivered! The Hypoallergenic Lipsticks have buildable pigment that is opaque in two swipes, and the most moisturizing formula that glides on with no effort. The lipsticks have a satin finish that stays balmy throughout the wear time. I absolutely love the vintage double slanted shape as well, which lets you essentially line your lips with the edge.

The shades released as part of the 80th Anniversary Collection include (top to bottom): Berry, Red, Coral and Nude. The darker shades leave a slight stain though there is some transfer and you’ll have to reapply after eating. Overall, these are super comfortable, super colorful and incredibly versatile.

Physicians Formula Powder Palette Mineral Glow Pearls Highlighter ($14.95)

The glow getter of the collection, the Powder Palette Mineral Glow Pearls Highlighter serves up a dramatic glow. The universal Pearl shade is a silvery pink with a ton of shimmer in it. There’s definitely a time and place for this highlight, and that’s when you want to sparkle. Despite the shimmer, the highlighter didn’t accentuate any skin imperfections and actually helped blur the skin while giving me radiance. The highlighter also features the well known packaging that includes a mirror and brush underneath the pan.

In the above look, I used:

  • Physicians Formula Le Velvet Foundation in Sand Beige
  • Physicians Formula Eyeshadow Quad in Smoky Purples
  • Physicians Formula Hypoallergenic Lipstick in Nude
  • Physicians Formula Powder Palette Mineral Glow Pearls Highlighter
  • Physicians Formula Bronze Booster Matte Contour Palette

As always, Physicians Formula made these products hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, oil-free, dermatologist & clinically tested, and cruelty-free. I was also happy to see that most of the collection is on the lower end of the price spectrum for the brand, making it even more accessible for beauty lovers. I’m going to be stocking up on the Le Velvet foundation and Hypoallergenic Lipstick in Nude, since it’s literally the perfect my-lips-but-better shade!

Grab these before they’re gone— they won’t last long. The Physicians Formula 80th Anniversary Collection drops today only on the brand’s website.

What are you most excited to grab from the 80th Anniversary Collection?

  1. U look AMAZING. I love that foundation on U. Imdid it feel greasy at all? I’m oily and sometimes creams r so greasy feeling. I love how they named the lipsticks. Easy to remember. I’m def checking into this. Hoping I score some of it? Thanks so much. Always enjiy❤️

    1. Thank you! That’s what I was afraid of in regards to the creme foundation as well, but no– it didn’t feel greasy! It does help to powder it and set it though. But I was very happy with the coverage and wear time.

  2. Believe it or not,I remember LeVelvet!! It was one of the first high coverage foundations at the drug store!! Also, if you can find Physicians Formula matte quads anywhere- grab them!!! They are the best drugstore matte eyeshadow, bar none!! They only have a few of them (classic nudes, quartz, canyon something)-and they are all neutral, but they are awesome!! I find them at Kmart alot of times (when I can find a Kmart lol!)
I am looking forward to this collection!!! **not positive, but it seems like L eVelvet used to say that it was formulated by a doctor, for his wife-on the back of packaging….

    1. I have Canyon Classics I got off someone from Poshmark. I see that one there a lot. I had heard it was really Good so I grabbed it for $5 The only thing I don’t like about Ooshmark is there shipping seems kinda high unless u find more than one thing from the same seller. But they do take care of U if anything happens. I had a nail polish come in broken and spilled. It wasn’t as big a mess as u think. But they took Good care of me. It was Opi yellow color. There was several others in there that weee Ok. But they r reputable from what I have seen with the few orders I have placed. Sometimes they have shopping deals on their app for like a less cost for an hour. Woo this got long. Sorry

        1. Love to have ur seller page name? Whatever it’s called to follow U. If u wouldn’t mind? I understand if I don’t want to put it on here.

  3. Okay, so I totally need these lip colors (especially Berry!) and that Powder Palette Mineral Glow Pearls Highlighter! Gorgeous. 🙂

  4. I have always loved Physicians Formula. It’s one of the only brands that my sensitive skin can wear.
