Second Day Festival Hair: Half Up Crown Braid

Sponsored post by Mirum. All opinions are my own.

Festival season is just around the corner, which means it’s time to start looking for festival beauty inspo! Almost as important as what makeup look you decide to rock to your favorite shows is your hair. Your style of choice has to be practical, but you probably also want to make a statement. A simple ponytail or topknot won’t do for the glam queen— you probably want to express your style but without taking too much time in the morning.

Whether you’re camping or renting a room, styles that are easy to do with as little tools as possible are essential for your festival weekend. As long as you prep with the right products (and bring one must-have along), you’ll be golden. Luckily, I have an arsenal of go-tos from CVS that help me achieve my ideal look. Keep reading to see how I’ll prep for upcoming shows and a festival hair style that’s fun and functional.

The night before the festival, I prep by using products that will make my hair a lot easier to style later. The TRESemme Thick & Full Shampoo gently cleanses impurities with its micellar technology. It’s great for delicate hair, and plumps hair fibers for a thicker appearance. I love using this to prep for styles like braids, topknots, and overall texture— perfect for festival looks! I follow up with the Suave Keratin Infusion Smoothing Conditioner for up to 48 hours of frizz control (so important when you’re outside all day!) and manageable hair that’s easy to style.

The first day of the festival, I usually try to wear my hair down in its natural waves for as long as I can. But that fresh feeling usually doesn’t last through the next morning. I need a product that will revive my hair and a style that will make my second day festival hair look on point.

One of my top festival must-haves: dry shampoo. It makes all the difference in making you feel fresh, especially if you don’t have access to a shower. It will also give you a little texture and lift that will ramp up our style of choice. I absolutely love the Dove Refresh + Care Fresh Coconut Dry Shampoo. It smells amazing, and removes extra oil hanging out at my roots. Plus, it’s invisible, so you don’t have to worry about white marks. Putting your hair in braids is always a safe bet, and with the thickness from the shampoo, smoothness from the conditioner and texture of the dry shampoo, it’ll turn out better than ever.

First, I start by sectioning my hair into top and bottom halves. I tie off the bottom half to keep it out of the way.

Next, I start a dutch braid starting at my side part, moving across my head. A dutch braid is an inverted french braid— instead of pulling the strands over one another, you pull them under.

I continue doing this with the hair from the top section only, until I reach my opposite ear. Then, I finish it off as a normal braid with no more hair to incorporate into it.

Pulling the braid across the starting point, I tuck the tail end behind the start of the braid and pin into place.

Let your bottom half down, and you’re done! You can leave it like this or even add waves to the loose hair and you’re ready for a day of awesome music, style and socializing! 1. I generally use the Batiste dry shampoo, I have been eyeing the Dove one’s since they have scents I like. I’m glad to hear that you don’t have to worry about white marks, because that drives me crazy. Cute hair style!

  2. I’ve been curious about dry shampoos, we do a lot of camping and there usually isn’t a shower. My go to next day style is usually a ponytail or messy bun. It would be awesome to have another option. I’ll have to look into the Dove one.

  3. I’ve not tried the Dove Dry Shampoo, but it is smells like coconut, sign me up! It’s a scent I can never get enough of, and I use dry shampoo often!

  4. This is so, so pretty! I often use dry shampoo to give my fine hair some texture and I like Dove dry shampoo, I NEED the coconut one!

  5. So pretty, I love the crown of braids. I have never successfully braided my own hair for public viewing. LOL. I think my hand eye coordination is lacking. I haven’t tried Dove dry shampoo, it’s on my list to try though.

  6. That is a super cute look! I wish I could get my hair to do that for 2nd day, but nope nothing can save it! LOL
