As many new beauty releases I get to try as a beauty blogger, only a few become tried and true staples in my routine. Case in point: eyeshadow palettes. How many eyeshadow palettes come out year by year, yet there are six that come to mind when I think of my favorite and most-used.

These six palettes are versatile, and offer both neutral and bold looks for whatever mood you’re feeling. They never fail me, they’re great for travel and a few I’ve even had to replace already. Luckily, even the high end palettes in this lot are on the affordable side… though one is limited edition (sorry!). Keep reading to discover my favorite eyeshadow palettes that are the most used in my collection.

Watch the video above for more info on each palette, plus a bonus favorite!

1. Ulta Beauty Matte Neturals Palette

This palette quickly became a favorite as soon as I dipped into my first pan. The Ulta Beauty Matte Neutrals Palette is, you guessed it, completely matte but surprisingly pigmented! You get twelve shades with the perfect range from light to dark, and they all blend seamlessly together to complete a look. The palette leans neutral/warm in my opinion, and it’s got great shades for fall. Watch the video above for my full review and swatches.

2. City Color Cosmetics Boho Chic Palette

The Boho Chic palette* from City Color Cosmetics has that quintessential summerr-to-fall color scheme everyone needs in their collection. With a good balance between neutral mattes and bold shimmers, you have enough for a lot of possibilities. The shadows are soft, blend out easily, and the pigment lasts throughout the day. 3. Coastal Scents Revealed 2 Palette

After the frenzy of rose gold everything, Coastal Scents launched the Revealed 2 palette which had some pretty familiar shades featured (cough, Naked 3, cough). While this palette has some gorgeous rose and burgundy tones, it’s not as limiting as it may look. I absolutely love how these shades look across multiple skin tones, though it has enough basic neutrals to give it variety. The slim packaging also makes for easy travel! 4. Covergirl truNaked Nudes Palette

The truNaked Nudes Palette from Covergirl is my go-to answer when people ask me about the best drugstore neutral palette. It’s affordable, it’s accessible, with lots of pigment. It covers all your basics and is a great palette to kick off any collection. The shimmer shades are pretty on their own, but my favorite trick is to amp them up even more by applying wet. Even though it has the least amount of shades, it gives you enough to mix and match for several go-to looks. This palette does lean a little cool toned, which I like wearing in the winter months. 5. Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette

The Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette is one of those classics that will never go out of style. (Please, Too Faced, never discontinue this one!). This has traveled with me all around the world because of the gorgeous shades inside that offer every day subtle looks as well as going-out drama. There is also a matte version of this palette, but I particularly love the satins in the original version— Honey Pot is one of my favorite golds out there.
