Living in the valley of LA, summer isn’t particularly my favorite season in terms of weather— facing days over 100 degrees can be rather dreadful. In fact, I can typically be found lounging in thin tees and tanks with short cut-offs. So, when it comes time to sprucing up my summer outfits, I tend to rely on accessories.
Metallics are even more in style than ever this season, glowing gold, rose gold and silver in the bright sun. They can be versatile enough to be bold and flashy, or classic and elegant. I’ll be working them into my summer look in these four easy ways:

2. Hair Accessories
Metallic finishes make for beautiful accessories in your hair. Particularly in my dark brunette hair, I love how metallic cuffs, pins and barrettes give contrast while making a plain hairstyle look just a little more interesting. If you have blonde hair, I would suggest rose gold so that the color shines through.

A summer wardrobe staple, sunglasses are an easy way to add a metallic finish to your look. Metal sides, shiny rims or mirrored lenses all play into the trend. I’m a sucker for designer shades, which I let myself splurge on since they get a lot of mileage out of my California lifestyle.

4. Strappy Sandals
Lastly, I’ll definitely be picking myself up some strappy sandals, my favorite to wear in the sun, that have metallic detailing to finish off my head-to-toe metallic wardrobe update! They’ll let me show off and compliment my summer pedicures, and are perfect for casual days out or for beach days!
