REVIEW: Revlon Bold Lacquer by Grow Luscious Mascara

This year, I think I’ve tried more new mascaras than ever! The drugstore mascara scene has really stepped up their game and I’ve been discovering many that I like. For the past couple months, I’ve been testing the waters with the new Revlon Bold Lacquer by Grow Luscious mascara. I received it in my Beauty Box 5 back in July and finally got around to trying it. I’ll admit that it didn’t look like anything special, but I ended up liking it! Watch the video to hear my thoughts and see how it works in action, plus a before and after.

The Bold Lacquer mascara has high-shine black fibers that build length and volume while still looking natural. The end result is long, defined and thick lashes that look great. The formula applies with a wet gel consistency, but dries quickly. With that said, as I mentioned in the video, flaking does end up happening a few hours into wear time.

The brush is definitely the secret weapon in getting the natural look. There are plenty of bristles and they are spaced out to really comb through the lashes, separating and coating each one to avoid clumps. The tapered end also makes it easy to pick up the lashes in the corner. While this is a buildable formula that layers well, I wouldn’t say that you get a super dramatic, false lash look… this offers more enhancement for an every day look.

REVIEW: Revlon Bold Lacquer by Grow Luscious Mascara

I like the effect I get with the Revlon Bold Lacquer by Grow Luscious Mascara, sans the flaking. I’m wondering if my tube is stale or if perhaps I should try the waterproof version to see if that fixes the problem. Either way, I would recommend this to anyone who’s looking for an affordable mascara that will give your lashes oomph without looking over-done. You can find it for around $8 in drugstores.

What was the last new drugstore mascara that you tried?

I have never tried any Revlon mascaras I am pretty loyal to L’Oreal when it comes to mascaras but I did recently receive this product in a subscription box so I am looking forward to trying it out.

I have tried the Waterproof version and I don’t like it at all. It’s dry and I don’t get much effect from it at all. But I have only tried the waterproof version, so I can’t compare. I have heard great things about this mascara! So I don’t know if maybe my mascara was stale too lol 🙂
