As I’ve said many a time, as much as I love feeling fashionable and filing my closet with trendy pieces, I really need functionality in what I wear. I’m especially picky when it comes to purses. I was literally just complaining to a friend about constantly switching all of my must-haves from big bags to small bags— credit cards and cash specifically. I hate leaving the house and realizing something I need is in my “other wallet.”
So when I came across Mei Li, a new bag brand that’s shaking up the game, I was floored. Aside from large tote bags with ample organization and pockets for everything, what really caught my eye was their Min Crossbody. This is a small leather bag that can be worn, or used as a clutch. That’s not not the genius part, though. What’s amazing about this bag is there is a detachable full size wallet that’s held on by magnets and clips.
I mean… you can’t deny how revolutionary this is, right? One wallet for everything, no matter if you’re going big or small. And the wallet doesn’t skimp on you, either. It has twelve card slots and a zippered pocket in the middle, and can be used separately when you’re using your larger purse, and then clipped onto the Min Crossbody when you’re going out and want something a little more formal or smaller for on-the-go. I will say that the actual clutch side of the bag is very slim, with enough room for an iPhone X, a perfume roller, chapstick and a compact. It truly is for traveling lighter with only the essentials.
The bag currently only comes in red or black— I think black is always the most versatile choice for bags because it can be worn both casually and formally. The bags are made of genuine leather, though I’m hoping as the brand grows they’ll be able to incorporate canvas or pleather options. Right now you can find more information and keep up with the release on their Kickstarter page.
I’m loving the monochrome look when I pair the bag with this Metallic Surplice Dress from Speechless Dresses. It’s really hard for me to find rompers that are flattering on me, because I have a longer torso that makes the bottoms of most one-pieces ride up. This fits me perfectly, though, and I love the caped skirt that gives it gown vibes. It’s perfect as the weather starts warming up, but when I still want some coverage. I love it for parties, date nights, shows or special events. You can also find Speechless Dresses at Nordstrom.
I’m also accenting this outfit with gold, working off the details on the bag, by repurposing my wedding shoes! These gold wedges are the Hunt Glittery Wedge Sandals from the Badgley Mischka Jewel line.
