Favorite Liquid Lipstick Brands: Drugstore & High End

You can’t ignore liquid lipsticks in this era. Just about every brand has their own version, with so much variety on the market. I constantly get asked about my favorites, which is definitely not an easy question. Especially with so many new ones coming out every season, my go-tos definitely change constantly. But, I still have two solid favorites on both the drugstore scene and high-end market.

On the drugstore end, I haven’t found anything to rival the Maybelline Super Stay Ink Lip Colors. Not only are they incredibly pigmented in just one swipe, but they are the longest lasting lipsticks I’ve tested at their price point of $9.49. They give you a true matte finish (and be sure to exfoliate first!) and won’t transfer or smudge. Oily foods can disturb the innermost part of your lips, prompting a needed touch up, but dry foods are no match for this color. The trick with these lipsticks is to apply in very thin layers (if you need to layer at all) because it’s already a thicker formula and can flake if applied to heavily. Less is more if you want it to last! I will say, if you have dry lips these may be uncomfortable for you. I often apply a thin layer of lip balm before applying.

From high-end brands, my all time favorite liquid lipsticks are the Make Up Forever Artist Liquid Matte Lipsticks. They’ve expanded this range a ton since I first reviewed them, though most of the ones I own are still just the neutral shades. These are incredibly pigmented with a flat matte finish that’s still flattering and never crusty. The color lasts all freaking day, and the texture is really comfortable even as it dries down. They’re infused with avocado oil to nourish the lips while you wear it. They’re $20 each, but definitely a splurge that’s worth it.
