I’ve got crazy hair. It’s curly, it’s wavy, it’s frizzy and it takes some care to get it to look presentable without heat styling. While many brands extend their line to a specific collection meant for curls, there’s something to say about a brand that devotes every single product to us curly girls!
DevaCurl is a brand that caters to locks like mine, with products that are tailored to the needs of curly and wavy hair. They’re selective with the ingredients in every bottle to help remedy the dryness and frizz that we often have to battle, and made without parabens, sulfates or silicones that suck the life and body out of hair.
For the past month, I’ve ben using two new products geared toward getting weightless waves— their Low-Poo Delight cleanser and One Condition Delight conditioner.
The Low-Poo Delight is a gentle cleanser with a medium lather that lifts oils and dirt without stripping your scalp. It helps moisturize while giving your hair body and preventing frizz. It’s hard to find sulfate-free shampoos that still lather well, which is important since I have such thick hair and a little bit of lather helps spread it throughout. It’s pretty much the next best thing behind co-washing when just using conditioner isn’t really your thing.
The One Condition Delight is perfect for me, giving my hair sufficient hydration without weighing it down or leaving residue behind. I usually let it sink in for about 10 minutes before rinsing, and it leaves my hair incredibly soft.
The proof is in the pudding, my friends. This combo leaves my waves feeling great and most importantly: looking amazing effortlessly! It really helped define my hair’s natural shape and texture without frizz. Letting my hair air dry has never looked so good. I feel super good about the end result, and I don’t have to do a thing to style it.
While they’re on the pricier side, here’s how I justify it: using this DevaCurl system saves me time since it leaves my hair looking great au natural, and has the potential to save me money in the sense that I don’t have to purchase additional styling products for every-day use. Also, like most curly girls, I’m washing my hair only 1-2 times a week to maintain its moisture, so even the smallest bottle can last me a decent amount of time.
You can find these and other DevaCurl products at your local Sephora.
