I am an avid dollar store shopper, especially when it comes to some of my staple beauty products! From beauty tools to travel must-haves, you’ll be surprised with what you can find for just $1. I’m not just talking about off-brand items, either. There are so many products from brands I already know and love that I can grab for cheap.
Keep reading to see what I always pick up for just $1 to save a ton of money on my beauty routine. While I shop at Dollar Tree, and I’m calling out specific products that they stock, you can probably find similar products at your local dollar store, even if it’s a different chain.
1. Bath Bombs and Bath Salts
One of my favorite things to do at the end of a long week is soak in the bath with a show on my iPad. Bath bombs and bath salts make the experience that much better, and I was surprised to discover some amazing options at the Dollar Tree. My local Dollar Tree carries a brand called Onyx Bathhouse which can often be found in stores like Kroger, Ulta, and Walmart. Their bath bombs are huge, smell amazing and make my skin feel soft. I’ve also seen individual packets of the Village Naturals Therapy Aches & Pains Muscle Relief Mineral Bath Soak, which is a brand I had been buying at Walmart. Their bath soak salts feel so good when you have sore muscles.
2. Makeup Brush Cleaners
Recently, my Dollar Tree has been stocking a bunch of brush cleansing tools you can use to keep your makeup brushes ready to go! Specifically, I’ve seen brush cleansing mats that come in fun shapes like pineapples and diamonds— they have a silicone texture on the front and suction cups on the back. You stick them to the bottom of your sink, and run a soapy brush over them to help loosen up debris and buildup. They also carry shadow switches, which are tins with a rough sponge inside that help remove eyeshadow from a brush for spot cleaning.
3. Travel Bottles and Pouches
The dollar store is the perfect place to pick up reusable travel bottles and pouches to organize your essentials. They carry multi-packs of empty bottles you can fill up with your own products to travel with, which means you can bring your routine with you anywhere. My store also carries a ton of travel beauty bags that are super cute.
4. Travel-Sized Toiletries
If you want to buy travel sized products, the dollar store has that too! My store has a ton of name brand mini products like Pantene and Head & Shoulders shampoos and conditioners, Banana Boat sunscreen, Secret deodorant, and Colgate toothpaste. These items can cost more than half price of the regular size at other stores, which is such a waste! Not only are these affordable and great for packing on trips, but they’re also perfect to keep in your purse for on-the-go. I know I always like to have sunscreen and floss picks on me, so these smaller containers are super convenient.
5. Loofahs & Bath Accessories
I use loofahs and pumice stones in the shower to help with cleansing and exfoliation. Both can be found at the Dollar Tree! You can also pick up skin care accessories like microfiber rounds for makeup removal, and face mask removing sponges.
6. Hair Accessories & Tools
You will find a ton of hidden hair gems at the Dollar Tree— bobby pins, clips, combs, barrettes and scrunchies galore! The hair ties can be a little weak, but will work in a pinch. I swear by their wide tooth shower combs for brushing out curly hair, and they have decent detangling brushes as well.
7. Makeup Organization
If you love the look of clear organizers to display or sort your makeup, Dollar Tree’s got you covered again. These are exactly like what you can find at Target or the Container store for $10-15! They have several different sizes and styles, like tiered lipstick stand and drawer organizers with compartments. I use several of them in my own makeup drawers!
What beauty products do you buy at the Dollar Tree?
So, what about their makeup?
Could you do a review of their mascaras, lipstick, lip gloss, foundation, eyeliners, kohl pencils, etc?
I was planning on doing that over on my Youtube channel actually!! But I will say generally you can get better ALMOST $1 makeup at the drugstore vs. the actual dollar store
I always buy shaving cream from Dollar Tree. They have a variety of “female” shave creams/foams in full sizes that are just as good as the brands found at the drugstore. Also, I prefer foam opposed to gel and foam is hard to find at the drugstore.
YES!! Forgot that one… actually I need to go pick some up today!
