Fall Fashion Trend: Denim Skirt OOTDs Two Ways

While denim is truly timeless, and a year-round closet staple (in mine, anyway), it’s having an even bigger moment this fall. Particularly long denim skirts and black denim skirts have been front and center of many fall OOTDs. Curious on how to wear the denim skirt trend? Here are two ways you can try styling them.

With the comeback of 90s and Y2K style trends, people have been trying to modernize how to style a long denim skirt. I personally favor a high waisted cut that falls below the knees for my average-height frame of 5’4″. From there, I’d tuck in a long sleeve tee layered under a patterned sweater vest.

Because of my height, I like to keep my shoes low-profile to elongate the look of my legs, so I’d opt for these flat loafers, matched to a small shoulder bag. I also loved the finishing touch of the gold hair clip to match the gold detailing on the loafers.

If you’re not a fan of long skirts on your figure, try switching it up with a shorter cut in black. I’ve really loved the black denim skirt trend this year because they’re super easy to dress up or down, especially in this pencil skirt cut.

A more casual look I’ve worn lately is tucking a tank top into the skirt, and layering a corduroy shacket on top. I love this green and cream combo for fall without leaning into the typical orange/red colors. This button down is oversized, so it gives that “stole my boyfriend’s shirt for warmth” look.

Since this skirt is shorter, I can break out the boots! I wore these chunky Chelsea boots for practically 6 months straight last fall and winter, and they held up really well. I did swap out the insoles with Dr. Scholl’s Work All Day inserts, though!

Which denim skirt outfit do you prefer?
