Easy DIY Cruella Halloween Costume & Makeup
As soon as I watched the new 2021 Cruella movie, I knew instantly I’d want to recreate one of her fierce looks for Halloween. The movie features many epic fashion and beauty moments, and there are a ton of different versions of the character you can channel. The best part— with normal drugstore makeup and Fall outfit staples, you can create an easy DIY Cruella Halloween costume on a budget!
I’m a huge fan of creating Halloween costumes using regular clothes because even if you buy something new to create the look, it’s something you can wear outside of just the one night. Same with Halloween makeup looks— I very rarely buy into the limited edition makeup kits, and opt for products that add value to my collection as a whole and won’t be tossed come November 1st.
The new Cruella movie centers around the fashion industry, and you’ll find her in couture outfits that can easily translate to outfits you either already own or can find off the rack.

For my Cruella Halloween costume, I opted for a faux leather moto jacket (she wears several throughout the film), which can be paired with a faux leather high waisted skirt to replicate her outfit. Both of these pieces can be styled easily within a Fall or Winter wardrobe.
Finish the outfit with a pair of boots— these bootie heels feature a delicate chain detail similar to a pair Emma Stone wears as Cruella.
The only Halloween exclusive item that I purchased for this costume was the Cruella wig, which came with a replica of the choker she wears in the movie. The set was $25.
As for the makeup, you really don’t need much to get the look. Cruella wears a strong graphic smokey eye and bold red lip. A drugstore smoky eyeshadow palette is a must-have for sultry night looks, and every makeup lover needs a go-to red lipstick!
I created the sharp angular lip look using the Kokie Cosmetics Retractable Lip Liner in True Red. It’s waterproof and long wearing, and you can get 25% off with code SlashedBeauty! I filled in the lip with the Maybelline SuperStay Ink Crayon in Own Your Empire, a perfect color match as a blue based red. Thanks for the ideas although I was trying to look for something a bit more simplified since I’m on a budget. Plus I wanted something in a set but thanks this helped a little I guess
The wig and necklace come as a set, after that it’s all makeup + clothes. DIY usually means piecing something together but you can probably buy a costume at Spirit with everything bundled. I focused on things that weren’t halloween-specific (besides the wig) so you’d get more bang for your buck.
