5 Quick Ways to Feel Fresh In the Summer Heat
This post is sponsored by Mirum, but all opinions are my own.
We’re already in the triple digits here in Vegas! We broke 110 last week and I just about melted as soon as I stepped outside. It’s so hard to feel put together when it’s hot AF. I know I always feel like a lethargic sweaty blob, anyone else?
Finding little ways to feel fresh during summer and make myself more comfortable has been a mission. But, I’ve always lived in relatively warm climates, so I do have a few tricks up my sleeve that are tried-and-true. Whether you’re in the dry heat like I am, or have the unfortunate displeasure of dealing with thick humidity, these are my favorite pick-me-ups during summer to freshen up and feel more like myself.

First thing’s first: use a deodorant you can depend on. There are a ton of big claims out there, but when it comes to a blazing day where you might be the least bit active, few deodorants actually perform. I’ve always had great luck with the Dove line, and am currently using the Dove Advanced Care Go Fresh Rejuvenate Pear & Aloe Vera deodorant stick from Walmart. Not only does the scent of the deodorant smell super crisp, helping me smell as fresh as I feel when I wear it.
I’ve had issues with “strong” deodorants irritating the skin under my arms hardcore. This is one of the very few I can use that doesn’t due to of the alcohol-free formula that contains 1/4 moisturizing cream. You get up to 48 hours of antiperspirant protection so you don’t have to worry about sweating through your clothes or feeling swampy. It comes in both stick and dry spray form for whatever situation you need— I rely on the stick for standard use but like the spray for use on areas of my body that also deal with sweat (like underboob!). There’s also a new Dove Go Fresh Pear & Aloe Vera body wash to match if you fall in love with the scent like I did. Right now, you can get a $1.25 rebate on the dry spray and a $1.50 rebate on the stick deodorant through Checkout51, just in time for summer activities.

Baby wipes aren’t just for babies. We constantly keep them stocked in our child-free home and in our cars because they’re a quick way to feel clean when you’re crunched for time. Whether you’re traveling, hiking, swimming or just hanging out in the sun, a quick wipe down can get the job done before you’re able to take a full on shower.

I like using light fragrances during summer— nothing too overwhelming. I’ve actually been making my own DIY body spray using essential oils, which lets me customize my scent. You can do this at home with stuff you may already have around the house: distilled or filtered water, witch hazel your favorite essential oils, and a small spray bottle.
Start out with 1/4 cup of the water. Add in 1/2 tablespoon of witch hazel, then add as many drops of essential oil that gets you your desired scent strength. Give it a small shake inside the bottle and you’re good to go! I’ve been using peppermint and lavender oils, because the blend is so invigorating!

You know how in the wintertime, when you step out of a nice warm bath or shower and it feels like you’ve entered the North Pole? I know… getting your body temperature up during the summer may feel like the last thing you want to do. But taking a really quick hot shower will give you that instant relief as soon as you step out for a quick cool down. I usually have the A/C running while I’m in the shower for an extra boost of chill. I like doing this right before bed, since I sleep better when it’s cooler.

Staying hydrated will help that woozy lethargic feeling we get when it’s hot. Adding a little lemon to that water can help you feel even more refreshed. Lemon water aids in digestion and can help boost your immune system as well. It can make you feel rejuvenated as a whole, and is a great way to start a morning!
I can always use more ways to help stay fresh in summer, so please share your own tips in the comments below! Find the Dove Advanced Care Go Fresh Rejuvenate Pear & Aloe Vera deodorant stick at Walmart to keep you protected and fresh this season. Don’t forget to take advantage of the $1.25 rebate on the dry spray and the $1.50 rebate on the stick deodorant through Checkout51!
That outfit is way too cute! I used Dove deo for a long time, but it aggravated the dark underarm skin that I have, but that scent and the moisturizing that you mentioned might be enough to bring me back in, haha.
Great ideas! Love the necklace and the pineapple top!
I definitely opt for cool showers before bed in the summer! I really helps me sleep.
I’m a big fan of face mists when the temperature goes up! They just feel so good! I’m also a big water drinker, and I’m always adding berries or cucumber to mine so encourage more drinking.
Great tips! Dove is my go-to deodorant, although I haven’t tried this scent. I’ll also b trying the DIY fragrance spray.
I keep baby wipes everywhere…purse, car, house…you never know when you’ll need one in heat or after a quick swatch session.
A good deodorant is a must have for me in the summer. I love Dove too!
I always sleep better when its cooler too! Great tips! I love the pineapple top!
Great idea to make your own body spray! I love customizing things to exactly how I like/want them.
I try to avoid the sun on those ultra hot days but you are in Vegas so that’s not possible. I like your ideas.
OMG, that’s really hot out there! I like you wide-brimmed hat, so cute!
I love the idea of making DIY body spray!!!
