I think that spring is quite easily my favorite season of the year. It has nothing to do with the weather, as I live in Florida and the weather barely changes. The reason I love spring so much is because of bright lipstick. There’s something about bright lipstick that makes me think I can actually sing “Let It Go” on key. I mean, that’s some major confidence right there! So to celebrate my love of bright lipsticks, I have rounded up my top six BRIGHT drugstore lipsticks.

6 Essential Spring Drugstore Lipsticks

1. Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in 109
If you aren’t feeling 100% on the bright orange lipstick trend, then this may be the lipstick for you. It isn’t as saturated as some of the other orange lipsticks I’ve come across, but still gives a nice pop of orange color.

2. Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Sweet Nectar
Oh what sweet, sweet nectar this lipstick is. I have to say that Milani is one of my favorite drugstore brands, because their products rival my high-end stuff. This lipstick is a high-octane orange, and it pretty much gives me life. I hoard a lot of lipstick both personally and in my makeup kit, but for some reason I keep turning back to this lipstick. Must be the sweetness of the nectar.

3. Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids Lipstick in Shocking Coral
Overall, I’m really impressed with the Maybelline Color Sensational line of lipsticks. Their Vivids collection, though, was pretty much made for spring. Especially this shade, Shocking Coral. It looks pretty shocking in the tube, but it applies beautifully and not as intensely on the lips.

4. Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Flamingo Pose
I know, I know. Another Milani lipstick! I am so obsessed with them, I just may go back to CVS and buy out the whole line. This is such a great hot pink, and kind of gives me MAC Girl About Town vibes. This shade also reminds me of the movie “The Birdcage,” and there is literally no explanation for this on my part.

5. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Addis Ababa
When I first started out as a makeup artist, NYX products made up the majority of my kit, and for good reason. NYX products are pretty stellar, and the pigmentation is always spot-on. The best part is how reasonably priced they are. This lip cream is really comfortable on my lips, and the color is a really nice blue-based pink. It’ll make your teeth look whiter!

6. Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Audacious
Revlon’s latest addition to their Colorburst line are the matte balms and the lacquer balms, and these are definitely essentials in my book. Especially the matte balms. This matte balm in Audacious is crazy pigmented and is such an amazing spring and summer color. This shade is more of a lighter tangerine shade… It’s definitely not as full-throttle as the Milani Sweet Nectar lipstick. This is another great choice for those of you who don’t want to commit to the orange lipstick trend!

If you haven’t jumped on the bright lipstick bandwagon yet, come join in on the fun! We play Beyonce on a constant loop and I tend to bust out my dance routine to Single Ladies. It’s fun, I swear! If you’re scared of trying out the above lipsticks because they’re too bright: don’t be. To ease in slowly, apply the lipstick to your fingers, and dab onto the lips to leave a slight stain. It won’t be too pigmented and will leave just a hint of bright color. It’s a win/win! What are some of your favorite bright lipsticks to wear during spring?

Brianna is an occasionally witty and somewhat narcissistic makeup artist who blogs over at Brikasia.com. When she’s not blogging, she’s probably doing freelance work in Central Florida or trying her hardest to learn Beyonce’s dance moves. She is also an avid live-tweeter, and might be a little too obsessed with Beyonce.
