Even in the drugstore, it seems like makeup prices have been rising. I will admit, though, that the quality has also been getting so better. Either way, I’m still on a budget and LOVE finding cheap gems that actually perform. Some of my makeup staples that are constantly on rotation in my collection only cost $5 or under. These are products that are classic in that they’re fan favorites, and tend to stay on trend throughout the years. The fact that they’ll cost you less than five bucks is just a cherry on top of their great performance.

1. NYX Round Case Lipstick ($3.99)
With so many shade options and a killer formula, this one’s a no-brainer. The NYX Round Case Lipsticks have a velvety texture infused with mineral oil for high shine. They’re mositurizing, pigmented and smudge-proof.
2. Ardell Demi Whispies Lashes ($3.99)
These are my all time favorite false lashes, along with probably every other beauty lover out there. Demi Whispies offer a huge boost of volume and length while still looking relatively natural. The varying lash lengths and fluttery shape give your eyes a romantic look. These are the lashes I hoard whenever they’re on sale!
3. Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies Flared Mascara ($4.99)
Whenever someone asks me for a drugstore mascara recommendation, this is the first one out of my mouth. If you don’t want to glue false lashes on, The Falsies has you covered with a look that is casual enough for day but dramatic enough at night. The Flared version has a curved wand that really accentuates your outer lashes for a big effect.
4. City Color Be Matte Blush ($3.99)
If you’re tired of sheer blush you have to layer and layer, look no further. The Be Matte Blush might be one of the most pigmented blushes I’ve tried… especially for the price. The huge pans pack a ton of color that you literally only need to tap onto the skin for a gorgeous flush of color. Use code SlashedBeauty to get 10% off!
5. Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder ($4.99)
This powder is an oldie but oh-so-goodie. The Stay Matte Pressed Powder from Rimmel will help you tone down shine, hide pores and extend your makeup. The translucent shade is great to set makeup with, or choose a tinted shade for a boost of coverage. My shade choice is Creamy Natural, which helps keep my coverage high throughout the day when touching up.
6. e.l.f. Cosmetics Shadow Lock Eyelid Primer ($2)
If you watch my YouTube videos, you know that this is my all time, holy grail go-to eyelid primer. For $2, you get a great primer that shadow actually sticks to. It’s extremely light so I never feel like I’m doing too much layering. My shadows stay on longer when using this, and you can’t beat that price!
7. NYX Hi Definition Photo Concealer Wand ($4.99)
My favorite drugstore concealer, the NYX HD Photo Concealer not only comes in a ton of skin tone shades, but also color correcting versions! I love using the Green shade and my skin tone shade to cover up acne spots for full coverage. It’s extremely pigmented, creamy, and blends easily. I often use it to do spot-concealing, leaving the rest of my face bare when I didn’t feel like wearing a full face of makeup.
8. Milani Supreme Kohl Kajal Liner $5.99
Another one you see me use a lot when doing tutorials, the Milani Supreme Kohl Kajal is a must have. It’s great for both tightening as well as smudging on the lash line for a smoky look. Work quickly, though— when this liner sets, it won’t budge! It lasts all day without transferring, which is why I haven’t strayed much since using it for the first time. And yes, it’s $5.99 and this post is about products “under $5”… but I felt guilty about leaving it out. It’s that good.
9. Maybelline Baby Lips ($2.99)
When you want a hint of color and a whole lot of hydration, Baby Lips is what you need. At one point, I had one in every shade. The clear version is a great lip balm on its own, but the others offer a great pop of color to your look. Pink Punch is one of my favorites, especially for when the rest of my face is kept neutral.
10. Wet n Wild ColorIcon Trios ($3.50)
These trios have been around for as long as I shopped in the beauty aisle, and they never get old. The ColorIcon Eyeshadow Trios give you three shades that work together perfectly for a complete look. My favorite is Walking on Eggshells, which includes a champagne browbone color, a brown crease color, and a pale pink for the lid to create a pretty neutral look for daytime.
