Even though Earth Day has come and gone, the reality is: if we all do our part to be kinder to the environment, we have the power to really make this Earth great. Let’s be realistic: overhauling your whole collection of products can’t happen overnight, and I’m sure there are some products you’ve come to love that you can’t bare to part with. But, Target’s Made to Matter collection is making it easier to take baby steps into a more environmentally-friendly beauty routine.

The products available span across different categories, but I recently went to my local store to pick up two new Tom’s of Maine products that just launched as part of the collection: the Luminous White Toothpaste and Wicked Cool! Deodorant. Working these into my routine are easy ways to take the first step into a greener lifestyle.
First off, I just started using the Luminous White Toothpaste over the weekend and I love the clean mint taste. It’s provides a natural whitening effect that’s safe for enamel, and is surprisingly paraben AND gluten free. I didn’t even know toothpaste could have gluten! I’m pretty picky about my toothpaste, which is understandable considering I’m using it twice a day, and I have liked this one so far.
The Wicked Cool! Deodorant is so flashy and fun with its packaging, but is also the first natural unisex deodorant. It provides 24-hour odor protection and is free of aluminum, parabens and artificial fragrances. There’s another deodorant in the collection for men called North Woods. One tip about switching to natural deodorant: use it for a little over two weeks for your body to start adjusting to it.
I try to work in natural personal care products where I can, because I know that even my contribution as one person can make a difference year round. Earth Day is a great excuse to audit yourself and your products to see where you can make tweaks for a greener routine. Like I said, it can be as easy as switching out your toothpaste. No excuses!

Great post! I agree, just one simple switch can make a difference. I have been making the switch this year, one product at a time! I was looking at Toms brand for deodorant and tooth paste. I’d be interested to know how you like it in the long run and if you found it worked for you. Deodorant is such a personal product that its hard to get recommendations for that one!
