The Only Purse You Need: Dagne Dover Midi Tote

I’m not the kind of girl who likes to switch purses. I like having one go-to bag that I can bring everywhere with me. It’s too much of a hassle transferring my things from one bag to the next depending on the occasion, so versatility is very important to me when shopping for my next purse. I need something big enough for all my daily must-haves, but chic enough to carry through the night. I’ve had many throughout the years, but only one purse has conquered all as the only bag I’ll ever need: the Dagne Dover Midi Tote.

The second smallest bag in their Signature Collection, the Dagne Dover Midi Tote is perfect for any woman on the go. Take it to the office, take it on a date, take it to the grocery store— it’ll keep you equipped anywhere. It comes with a detachable cross body strap for hands-free carrying, though I usually just use the 8” handles on the bag itself. It’s easy to carry and you’ll never have to pick and choose what to bring with you.

Inside, you’ll find a 10.5” tablet sleeve. When I’m not carrying my iPad Pro with me, and I rarely do, I use this slot for mail and papers that I don’t want to get crumpled at the bottom of the bag. Also on this side, you have two pen loops— I’ve always got a tide pen in one— and two card/wallet slots. I have a small coin purse that fits in the biggest card slot.

There’s also a detachable water bottle sleeve to keep your bottle upright. The sleeve prevents it from sweating onto the contents of your purse, as well.

On the other side of the main compartment, you have a zipper pocket for loose items and two large slip pockets. This is where I keep my phone, gum, chapstick, and anything else I need to access quickly.

The main compartment itself is incredibly roomy with no other dividers, so you can fit larger items as needed. Made out of coated canvas and leather trim, it’s not the most lightweight bag I’ve ever carried— but I know it’s going to last. The structural integrity is there— the outer canvas feels thick and keeps its shape while the inner lining is soft.

I’ve had a smaller Dagne Dover tote for about two years now and it’s held up remarkably, so I trust this one to handle my every day adventures. My Midi is in the color Onyx, which is a sleek black shade that is perfectly complimented with the brushed gold accents. It’s a timeless look that matches anything from jeans and a t-shirt, to a suit, to a semi-formal dress.

Purely based on its versatility, the $225 price tag is completely justified in my opinion. It’s a smart fashion investment into a piece that you’ll get a ton of use out of. Again, because I’m a one-purse kinda gal, this is the bag I’m counting on lasting me through everything. I’ve always splurged on purses I know can keep up with me for a few years at the least. From experience, I know Dagne Dover totes exceed this expectation.

Is it possible to use it as shoulder bag as well or it is uncomfortable?

I only use mine as a shoulder bag 🙂 I don’t find it uncomfortable at all unless it’s really stuffed with a lot of things– usually me when traveling.

My favorite is a Chaps satchel that I bought 2 years ago, and is holding up very well, although I do change out my bags every 3 to 4 months. I love this bag because it has a million pockets, compartments, sleeves, etc. On both sides are two that snap shut and then look like a seam in the bag, you can’t tell that they are there. This is where I hide things from my husband! I’m not especially devious, but every time I have a little cash for buying…whatever is under a dollar and I feel stupid paying with a debit card, my husband finds it and steals it!

If I had to guess, I think I have probably two dozen, maybe thirty bags, and at least half don’t have all the pockets and compartments. They are basically one bottomless pit where everything is mixed together and I can’t find anything. I hate those bags and need to sell or give them away. They are pretty, but what was I thinking???

Oh and the Chaps bag, it was on clearance. I think it was only like $98 full price, but I know I got it for like $20 or 25. SCORE! It isn’t as versatile, since it wouldn’t go with anything too dressy, but I’m pretty casual most of the time.

wow, that’s an amazing deal!! Yes, I also stray away from bags that don’t have several compartments to help organize things. Otherwise I’m searching for my must-haves for days!
