Everyone’s talking about tubing mascaras recently, and trying to find one that works best for them. Even though the concept isn’t new, the demand for long-wearing and reliable makeup products has been on the rise as people take more of a no-nonsense approach to their beauty routines.

Higher end brands may have popularized the unique mascara formula, but I’m here to share the 3 best affordable tubing mascaras under $15 that deliver the same look and performance at a fraction of the cost.

But first: what is tubing mascara?

Tubing mascaras contain polymers in the formula that create a 360˚ wrap around the lashes in a tube-like layer. This allows for incredibly even application, buildable length, and smudge-free all day wear.

Removing tubing mascaras is also different than a traditional formula in that you can use warm water only and see the mascara slide off your lashes in tube shapes and clumps. No need for rubbing or tugging, so it’s a great option for sensitive eyes.

The L’Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara was one of the first drugstore tubing mascaras to hit shelves. While it’s been reformulated since its release, it remains one of the most reliable budget friendly options.

This is a two-step mascara, starting with a nourishing and protecting primer and finishing with the tubing mascara top coat.

I love the length and volume I get with this mascara– it really brings the drama! I wish the brush was a bit more separating though, since it’s a thicker formula and sometimes my lashes end up sticking together. However, the length, volume and lift lasts all day with no smudging or transfer. Removal is quick with warm water, with no smearing or running.

2. Essence Bye Bye Panda Eyes! Mascara ($4.99)

If you really want bang for your buck, the Essence Bye Bye Panda Eyes! Mascara is the cheapest you’ll find– but don’t let that fool you! Essence is known for their cruelty-free mascaras, and this one is up there with their best.

I love how fanned out my lashes are when wearing this one– it definitely gives a wide-eyed shape. In my opinion, you get a little more length versus volume but an overall balanced look that lasts all day… and even through tears.

Unlike a traditional tubing mascara, some smearing occurs when removing with warm water, but it wipes away easily without needing any extra products. No residue sticks to the skin or requires rubbing– just splash a little more water on.

3. Half Caked Totally Tubular Mascara ($14)

The Half Caked Totally Tubular Mascara was a surprise Amazon beauty find from a small woman-owned vegan makeup brand. What I find particularly interesting is that this mascara is available with four different wand options depending on the look you like. I chose “The Ultimate” wand, which has a plastic curved comb brush to focus on length and curl.

This ended up being my favorite of the three. The effect looked the most natural and gave off an appearance similar to lash extensions. I thought my lashes looked wispy but defined with extra length, volume and lift that didn’t budge throughout the day. It was also the easiest to remove.

  1. I recently found your youtube channel and I think your content is so informative and fun. These mascaras look cool, I might go and get the Half Caked one. Also this is kind of random but for some reason your face reminds me of Vanessa Hudgens!
