Sample Scents the Right Way with Scentbird

It takes a lot for subscription services to wow me nowadays; it seems like new ones are popping up each minute. But I have to say, when I learned about Scentbird, I did a mini-applause for them from home.

Fragrances are so fun to switch up with the season, but they typically count as a splurge item. Their high prices are normally justified by the fact that they can potentially last you years before running dry, but that’s if you’re committed to using only a few for extended periods of time.

On the flip side, if you constantly pick up fragrance samples from department stores or as gifts-with-purchases, you might find that it’s not enough to thoroughly test the scent. I don’t know about you, but a lot of my favorite fragrances had to grow on me… it wasn’t a love-at-first-sniff scenario. I’ve also had perfumes that I smelled on a stick in the store, loved it, then brought it home and found it would not play nicely with my body chemistry. Always a bummer.

REVIEW: Scentbird Perfume Subscription | Slashed Beauty

Enter Scentbird: the monthly subscription that will send you a 30-day supply of designer fragrances of your choice. You start with a personality test, and you can tell them what your current favorite fragrances are. From there, Scentbird will recommend a ton of scents they think you’ll enjoy. You can load up your “queue” and get to sampling!

Your first Scentbird package will come with the sample fragrance and a sleek, travel-friendly spray tube. After that, they’ll just send you the fragrance refills that you can swap into the tube. You definitely get enough to fully experience each fragrance– about 0.27 oz each time, which is just short of a rollerball size for most brands.

I’ve been testing out the iconic J’adore Eau de Parfum by Dior, and even after two weeks I haven’t quite made up my mind on it… though it’s slowly growing on me. It’s a more mature scent than I usually gravitate to, although does embody a lot of the warmth that I like from most of my other perfumes. If I had just sniffed this in passing, I would have probably kept on walking without giving it a chance rather than taking my time to appreciate it like I can with the month’s supply.

Whether you use the service to discover your new signature scent before splurging on a full size bottle, or you get bored easily and like changing things up regularly, Scentbird is easy and affordable at just $14.95 a month. Check them out on their website to start sampling scents the right way!
