REVIEW & SWATCHES: Zoya Magical PixieDust Collection for Summer 2014

When it comes to nail trends, I’m always the last one on the train. It’s like clockwork: I start out hating the fad, then about a year later I’m all over it. It happened with the accent nail, matte polish, and now: textured polish.

Zoya has been on a roll with their Summer 2014 polish collections, and the new Magical PixieDust trio is no exception. When I saw swatches of their original PixieDust collection, it was the first time I was attracted to textured polish. I got my hands on the new shades (or… I got them on my hands!), and if you love textured polish, you’ll love these!

REVIEW & SWATCHES: Zoya Magical PixieDust Collection for Summer 2014 - Bar

Bar is a nude beige shade that looks great on its own or on top of other polishes. It takes a few coats to get the beige color to show up, otherwise it looks almost clear.

REVIEW & SWATCHES: Zoya Magical PixieDust Collection for Summer 2014 - Ginni

Ginni is a really pretty baby pink that is very ethereal, perfect for it’s “Pixie” moniker.

REVIEW & SWATCHES: Zoya Magical PixieDust Collection for Summer 2014 - Arlo

Arlo is a cool violet that leans towards our color of the year, Radiant Orchid. It only takes two coats to get strong color payoff; this shade is probably my favorite of the three.

The PixieDust polishes contain really chunky, holographic glitter suspended in the jelly polish formula that sets with a matte, textured finish. You are supposed to wear them without a base or top coat for the best results.
As the first three textured polishes to be added to my collection, they set the bar high. I love that the glitter is dispersed heavily and evenly. With that being said, you’ll want each coat you apply to be a full, even application so not to cause build up in one spot of the nail.

I’ve discovered that textured polish is perfect for my busybody lifestyle. If it chips or smudges, you can’t tell at all. Touch ups are especially easy to pull off without any difference in the appearance of the mani.

The new Magical Pixie polishes are available for $10 each on Zoya.com. Don’t they remind you of mermaid nails? Bar sort of looks like sparkling beach sand, and the other two look like pretty shells! Which is your favorite?
