REVIEW: Revlon PhotoReady Insta-Fix Makeup
I’m not one to openly try new foundations left and right. If you’re a Slashed Beauty regular, you know I’ve got a very very select few drugstore foundations that are my HGs, and I stick to them pretty exclusively. But, I’m a sucker for convenience, so when Revlon came out with their PhotoReady Insta-Fix makeup, I was pulled in.
Stick cream foundations have always been appealing to me because of the promise of easy application and low-maintenance wear. I had high hopes for the Insta-Fix, which claims to give the skin a “retouched” look, as if it were put through your fave Instagram filter.

What I didn’t mention in the video is that the foundation contains SPF 20, which is always important to me in terms of face makeup. I’ve been using the shade Medium Beige, but when I repurchase this (which I definitely will), I’m probably going to go for Natural Beige, which is a little cooler in undertone.
You can see how thick this applies in the swatch, but worry not: look how effortlessly it blends out. Less is more, but applying an extra layer will definitely bring you up to full coverage with this baby.
While other stick foundations I’ve tried have left me wanting more in terms of finish and coverage, the Revlon PhotoReady Insta-Fix covers all the bases with a no-muss-no-fuss, foolproof application. The twist up stick format also makes it great for throwing in your bag and touching up throughout the day, although I didn’t find much need to do that anyway. Either way, travel friendly packaging always earns extra points in my book.
I will admit the Insta-Fix is on the mid-range price spectrum for Revlon at $14.99. But with a good drugstore foundation being so hard to find, if you find one that works well, it’s worth the few extra dollars.
I’m actually tempted to buy a deep shade and use it as a contouring stick! Has anyone else tried that?
I bought this foundation stick at Walgreen’s with a sale for buy one item, get one 50% off. So, I am going to try a Revlon mascara, as well. My Walgreen’s actually had testers and a mirror, so I was able to secure a really good match for my fair and freckled skin tone (Shell), which is a light cool shade between ivory and beige. Coverage is good and reddish imperfections in my skin do not show through. With the sale on Revlon cosmetics, I ended up paying four dollars and change for the mascara, so if it works well, that will be a fantastic bargain.
Browsing through tí get a review of the highlithng sticks. Just noticed the Revlon pair of highliting sticks at Big Lots! $5.00 but did not try not knowing how good or bad they might be. Might be good just like these? Hmmm? Also saw Mayballine eyeshadows and lipgloss sets in two different shades and other ‘interesting’ stuff that I walked away from having super powers refusing with makeup purchases. Lol! Not! 😉
So this looks completely bad ass and I need it. I’ve had good luck with Revlon foundations in the past so I hope this works just as well for me!
It has been a while since I have used a stick foundation, but now you have me wanting to try this one.
I haven’t tried a stick foundation before, with my oily skin, but it seems to really work well for you! Maybe next time there’s a sale at Ulta!

This is a new one to me. I always worry about finding the right shade though in drugstore makeup because there aren’t testers.

Definitely impressive. I wanted to try the Bobbi Brown foundation, but the price point on this Revlon stick is much friendlier
