Purse-Friendly Overnight Beauty Bag

Have you ever had a spontaneous sleepover, only to find yourself completely unprepared? Whether it be a date-night-turned-overnight-stay, or just a fun adventure out with friends running overtime, having a purse-friendly overnight beauty bag can keep the night moving smoothly and make the morning a little easier to get through. Keep it in your purse or car so that you’re always prepared, but it’s simple enough to throw together in under 5 minutes, too.

1. Dickinson’s Witch Hazel Cleansing Cloths
Don’t you DARE fall asleep without cleansing your face! These wipes, made with witch hazel, aloe, and botanical extracts will gently but effectively remove dirt, oil and makeup with no residue and no need to rinse. Since witch hazel is a natural toner, they will also help refresh and balance out your skin with no drying feeling. Even on my sensitive skin, the natural ingredients work well to keep me feeling clean and never irritated.

2. GLO One-Night Stand Kit
Don’t let yourself be that person who’s using your finger as a makeshift toothbrush, yuck! Keeping a travel toothbrush and toothpaste handy is a good idea, even if you’re not expecting to sleep over anywhere (am I the only one who eats garlic with everything?). Floss adds extra protection against embarrassing food stuck in the teeth. Your mouth and friends will thank you when you don’t have morning breath the next day.

3. Ban Total Refresh Cooling Body Cloths
These have become a purse staple for me, especially during summer. They are basically deodorant cloths that will get rid of that grimy, un-showered feeling while giving your body a refreshing scent in a pinch.

4. Tangle Teezer
Let’s get rid of that bed head, shall we? I’ve always found Tangle Teezers to be the most travel-friendly brushes because of their shape and size. Their new Salon Elite version has longer bristles which I personally like the best for my thick hair.

5. Hair Ties
If your hair is like my own, which typically needs product in it after waking up for a texture refresh, you’re probably going to just put it into a topknot post-sleepover. So always carry some hair-loving soft hair ties with you for a quick and low maintenance style.

6. Light and Easy Makeup
Especially if you’ve got somewhere to be the next day, keeping some staple makeup products in your overnight bag will give you something to work with so that you look polished and ready to go in the morning. Tinted moisturizer is always a good idea, since it will do double duty in hydrating your skin plus adding a little coverage. One of my favorites is the Pixi H2O Skintint, which has a gel consistency that’s extremely refreshing. Brows always help me feel like myself, so I pack the e.l.f. Essential Instant Lift Brow Pencil which has a spoolie attached for combing the color through for a natural look. With a little mascara— like my current go-to, the NYC Bold Angel Lash—and a moisturizing lip color (my pick: the new Butter London Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayon in Teddy Boy which has a built-in sharpener so you’re never stuck in a dull moment), nobody will be able to tell how crazy of a night you had just a few hours earlier.

Keep these overnight must-haves in a slim canvas bag for an easy-to-pack survival kit for the craziest of spontaneous sleepovers.

What do you absolutely need for a sleepover?

  1. When I’m teaching, I carry a similar type of ’emergency’ bag in my satchel. have to be prepared!

  2. This looks like my camping beauty bag! Just enough to get by and “stay pretty” 🙂 I’ve never kept wipes in my purse, but I think I might now!

    1. They definitely come in handy in a pinch. I used to leave them in my car but then if it gets hot, that could mess with the ingredients. A small pouch in the purse will keep you prepared for anything 🙂 Thanks for visiting & commenting!
