The NYX I Love You So Mochi palettes come in two different color themes: the Electric Pastels featured here and the Sleek and Chic, a neutral peach palette. I bought this palette right after I bought the In Your Elements palettes, which I fell in love with– the Water palette is my favorite. I thought that the I Love You So Mochi palette would have similar color payoff and blendability. I loved the cute electric pastel hues, which are perfect for spring coming up. They’re also the types of shades that I like to wear on my lids while using mattes in my crease.

When I looked at the Electric Pastels palette in the pan, it was love at first sight! I thought it was gorgeous. I loved the softly shimmering shades, especially the top row and the silver in the bottom row. However, the Nyx I Love You So Mochi Electric Pastels palette turned into a disaster for me once I put it on the skin.

I swatched it over eyeshadow primer using my Urban Decay Moondust brush, which is ideal for super sparkly eyeshadows. Unfortunately for me, this palette lacked good color payoff. I had to practically dig my brush into the pans to get over half the shades to show up. This is what the shadows looked like packed on– if I had done just two swipes, you would see nothing but glitter. I was not impressed. I’ve seen that other people who have reviewed the product on Ulta Beauty’s website have also experienced the same pigmentation issue I did.

Oh NYX, I wanted to love the I Love You So Mochi Electric Pastels palette so much, but it’s a miss for me. I hope the next palette I buy from you has better pigmentation!

  1. Yay! So glad to see Phyrra do a guest post! I’ve been tempted by this palette, but held off. That was probably a good thing.
