L’Oreal Voluminous Feline Noir Mascara Review

I recently noticed that it was about time I swapped out a few of my open mascaras for a fresh tube. Luckily, I had the new L’Oreal Voluminous Feline Noir mascara waiting to be cracked open, so I twisted off the gorgeous gold cap and gave it a go!

I was a little wary, since I wasn’t a huge fan of the original L’Oreal Voluminous mascara, but I had hope that this one would be the new-and-improved, sassy sister. It claims to have more intense black pigments than her predecessors, and volume and fullness in one coat to achieve a fanned out feline eye. Aside from the claims, the packaging itself was too cute to pass up, so I dived in lashes-first!

The first thing I noticed was the new “Quick-Charge” brush. It’s sort of like a hybrid between a brush and a comb, with very flexible comb-like bristles that pick up a lot of product. The bristles are spaced strategically so that they pick up every lash for an even coat while separating.

When applying, you really do only need one dip of the brush to have more than enough mascara to do your eye— maybe even both! On first swipe, you get instant volume, literally. I’m not even joking… it reminds me of how cartoons depict applying makeup where they swipe once and suddenly: LASHES! It’s a huge difference with minimal effort.

The formula is on the thicker and wetter side, so once I do a couple runs through the lashes, I typically scrape off whatever mascara is left on the wand and use the bristles to further separate and place the lashes at the angle I want them to lay. I love how in maybe 60 seconds flat my lashes look full and thick without any clumps. And I mean, look at that length!!! That’s Zero-to-Hero sorcery right there.

Other than the look of my lashes, other great aspects of this mascara include the fact that it doesn’t flake, and my lashes stayed curled all day long. No drooping or smearing— this mascara holds up through a 9-hour day! Miranda tested, Miranda approved.

The L’Oreal Voluminous Feline Noir mascara has definitely earned its place as my newest go-to drugstore mascara. Easy to work with and delivers on all promises? Yaas queen.

  1. Wow!! That is a really noticeable difference in the before & after! I was curious before but now I’ve gotta try it.

  2. I love the difference it’s made on your lashes. How beautiful. I’ll put this on my list for my next round of mascara.

  3. I almost bought this the other day because I adore adore Voluminous Butterfly Intenza, but then I remembered I have about 5 open tubes of mascara and about 5 more waiting in the wings.
