How I Shave My Face for Better Makeup Application

Regardless of whether your facial hair is dark, light, noticeable or not– shaving your face can make a world of difference for your makeup application!

I started shaving my face toward the end of last year, right before my wedding. Aside from the obvious mustache and unibrow that I’ve sported since I was a kid, I didn’t realize how much invisible peach fuzz I had! What I also didn’t realize was the effect it had on my makeup application and wear.

Does shaving your face make your makeup last longer? Here's how to remove facial hair without pain. | Slashed Beauty

Watch the video above to hear about my face shaving routine, and my go-to tool to help me do it!

I use the Finishing Touch Flawless to get rid of my facial hair. This device is gentle, dermatologist approved and won’t leave you with knicks or cuts. It’s also completely painless but leaves me with a just-waxed look and feel. Watch the video to see how it works.

The Finishing Touch Flawless leaves me with smooth skin that’s a perfect canvas for skin care and makeup products! I use it on my upper lip, by unibrow, my cheeks, chin and even above my brows for strays. This routine happens about once a week for maintenance.

Benefits to Shaving Your Face:

Your makeup goes on smoother. Without hair acting as a barrier between your makeup brush and skin, your makeup will blend out a lot easier and with a natural finish. You’ll end up with a smoother makeup application and more even-looking skin.
Your skin care products may work better. Shaving your face can help your skin care absorb better and deeper. When this happens, they’ll become more effective.
Your makeup can last longer. I’ve personally noticed face makeup like contour and blush to last a lot longer on shaved skin vs. over peach fuzz. It doesn’t fade as patchy, and looks well blended for a longer period of time.

One thing to consider before shaving your face: if you haven’t done it before, you may notice your skin become oily at first. Since there are no hairs to pull the hair away from your skin, you might get a little shiny until your face adjusts on its own. It’ll happen– it just takes time and a bit of setting powder in the mean time.
