CoverGirl Star Wars Lipstick Swatches + Mascara Review

So most of us know that there’s a new Star Wars movie coming out at the end of this year, and it’s gonna be huge. Equally as huge? The excitement over the collaboration between CoverGirl and Star Wars to create an out-of-this-world makeup collection to celebrate the new movie!

The collection consists of mascaras, lipsticks and nail polishes— 19 products total. I was able to get my hands on a handful so I could show you a sneak peak before their official release this week on September 4th.

The mascaras from the CoverGirl Star Wars collection are re-packaged tubes of The Super Sizer— a mascara I’ve mentioned numerous times on this blog because I really love the formula. They come in regular and waterproof, and there are ten collectable tubes, each with a different Star Wars quote on them. The brush has an inverted tapered shape to fan out the corners and coat each lash with volume.

What I was most excited about in the collection were the lipsticks. In the drugstore, we rarely see funky colors outside of the mainstream trends. CoverGirl took a leap with this collection including some really neat shades fit for droids and stormtroopers. Only two of the six in the collection have shade names, the rest are labelled as numbers.

Shade #10 is a super sparkly silver. You could wear it alone, as I did in the picture above, but it doesn’t build up to full coverage, so I think it’d be best if you used it to turn a matte lipstick into a frosted one.

Shade #20 is a frosty lilac shade that I’m totally digging. It’s much more opaque than the silver lipstick, but does take a little bit of work to get applied evenly. I think this is a fierce shade for those who have the guts to wear it! You could also probably layer this on top of another shade as well.

The most wearable of the three that I have is the shade #40 Droid, which is a sheer orange with a ton of gold glitter packed into it. The shimmer definitely makes it stand out while the toned down orange looks like a more normal lipstick shade.

The consistency of the shades are very glossy… slippy even. They don’t quite “dry down” or set, so you’ll have to be careful about smearing. Especially since these shades contain so much shimmer, it can be easy for the sparkles to end up on other parts of your face.

I really love what CoverGirl did when adapting the movie into a makeup collection, and I’m sure many others will too. With that said, you’re not going to want to hesitate picking these up if you see them in a store near you— they’re bound to sell out quickly! Keep your eyes peeled for them in drugstores near you this month, they’re already available on Drugstore.com.

Which was your favorite Star Wars movie?
