I’ve been a fan of the Covergirl Outlast All-Day collection thus far. I’ve regularly used the primer, and recently shared the new Custom Red Lips collection as well. So I was pretty excited when they launched the Outlast All-Day Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation. I’m a sucker for anything that claims to be long-lasting at the drugstore. Especially with foundation, it can be hard to find one affordably. So I put this one to the test to see how long “all day” really was.
The new Covergirl Outlast All-Day Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation is a revamped version of an existing product. It claims to have the lasting power of primer, coverage of a concealer and blendability of foundation.
First of all, I really appreciate the fact that this foundation contains sunscreen at SPF 20. As we head into the sunnier months, SPF is imperative to work into your routine! I often find foundation that contains sunscreen to be on the thicker side, but this one has a thinner texture and isn’t heavy at all. This is a medium to full coverage foundation, so the fact that it still feels light is a huge plus. It also blends incredibly easy either with a brush or sponge.
I’ve been experiencing a lot of breakouts lately, mostly because I’m #stressed with so many things to plan from my wedding to moving. I was really counting on this foundation to help cover my problem areas and keep them hidden all day! I started my routine with the Outlast All-Day Primer, which I already use and trust. It’s a thin, lotion like primer that really helps foundation hold on. Then I applied about a pump and a half of the foundation to my face.
The foundation has a pretty matte finish, though they don’t label it saying that. It’s supposed to be shine-free, though they also have the Outlast All-Day Matte Finishing Powder if you feel like you need to touch up during the day. I did end up using a little bit of the powder because it’s tinted, and it helped the foundation match my skin tone a bit better.
So let’s get to the good stuff: did it last? Above you can see how the foundation wore throughout the day, compared to my bare face so you know what I was working with. There was only one small blemish above my eyebrow that was being too stubborn to cover completely, though the foundation really helped minimize its appearance without help from concealer. Everything else was covered very easily with only minimal layering required.
8 hours later, I felt like the coverage hadn’t changed at all. I hadn’t touched up at all, and I didn’t feel like any of my problem areas were breaking through.
While the coverage and lasting power met all the claims this foundation made, there was one big disappointment for me. I have combo skin, and around this time of year I experience some dry patches and small areas of eczema around my face. This did not bode well with the foundation. Because it’s on the matte side, throughout the day I could see it start to bunch and look flaky around the dry areas. Because of this, I would mostly suggest it for normal to oily skin. Luckily, because I know how my skin changes with the seasons, I know I’ll be able to use this more frequently in summer when my dry patches go away.
I’m super impressed with how well the coverage from this foundation held tight. It’s definitely one of the best performing at the drugstore when it comes to lasting power, now! You can find the Covergirl Outlast All-Day Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation in the new packaging soon at the drugstore. The only place I’ve seen it online so far is Amazon.
