I suppose it’s not necessarily the most exciting thing to need concealer more and more as years go on. Between adult acne, dark spots and under-eyes, concealer has been one step I can’t afford to skip when I’m going for a fresh faced, healthy skin look.
Whether you need to save a few bucks, or you’re eager to treat yo’self, there’s a concealer out there for you— and I’ve found six over the past few years that are worthy to be deemed the best concealers for every budget.
1. NYX HD Concealer – $4.99
The best bang for your buck, this has quickly become my absolute favorite concealer for everything under the sun. It offers long lasting full coverage, and I have even determined it to be a dupe of the Make Up For Ever concealer mentioned later in this list. It’s super effective and hiding any imperfections, and also come in color-correcting shades.
Here’s the one you’ll want to pick up if you’re looking for an illuminating concealer to highlight with. Its light coverage helps even out tone while its glowing finish adds a natural sheen for radiant skin. It’s extremely lightweight and truly leaves you feeling like you’re hardly wearing any makeup at all. The formula is oil free and non-comedogenic, making it great for most skin types.
Slightly thicker than the NYX concealer, this one will give you some heavy duty coverage when you need it most. One of the most full-coverage drugstore concealers I’ve tried, I can often get away with using this on top of blemishes and forgoing foundation altogether. It blends out easily with a sponge or your finger, and has the most generous amount of product in the tube out of all of these picks. It’s on the drier side when it sets, which makes it last longer on my combo skin.
I discovered this store-brand concealer through Sephora’s Color IQ shade matching system https://slashedbeauty.com/how-to-find-your-perfect-makeup-shades-at-sephora/ when I was looking for a concealer that would look invisible on my skin. That’s exactly what I got— not only with my perfect shade (there are 20 to choose from!) but the fantastic formula. Moisturizing and lightweight, I was surprised to find that this concealer also packs some buildable coverage that blurs fine lines and hides my problem areas. The hydrating feel helps when healing blemishes start getting dry and flaky— the hardest to cover!
5. Cover FX Perfect Pencil – $20
The newest addition to my concealer wardrobe, the Perfect Pencil is a fine-tipped, twist up crayon style concealer that gives you the most precision when applying. It’s extremely multi-purpose, great for cleaning up the brow arches, defining the lip line, brightening the waterline or even spot concealing blemishes. I’ve also used it to highlight various areas around my face. With so many uses, the cost is super justifiable.
6. Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer – $27
While I acknowledge that the NYX concealer is a very close dupe to this one, the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer is still just the slightest bit thicker for a degree more coverage, and making it ideal for filling fine lines and pores. It has a creamier formula that feels nourishing on the skin, especially under the eyes. This is another concealer I trust to use on its own without any other face products to even my skin tone as it blends into my skin for a flawless finish.
