My Beauty, Health and Wellness Resolutions + GIVEAWAY

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Wow, 2015. Shouldn’t there be flying cars by now? (Although that would hardly solve the traffic problems in Los Angeles.) I already know there are great things in store this year, but I still want to sit down and write out some of my goals. Writing resolutions helps them become a reality because I feel more accountable when they’re laid out in front of me, and especially when I share them with you! So, today is reserved for more of a personal post as I share where I hope 2015 leads me. These beauty, health and wellness resolutions are great places to start in leading a more beautiful life!

Beauty, Health and Wellness Resolutions #StartsHere | Slashed Beauty

#1 | Take Beauty Risks
As a beauty enthusiast, I want my skill and knowledge to grow with each year. Even though I constantly try new products, I’m definitely a creature of habit when it comes to my go-to makeup looks as well as the products I keep in rotation during my beauty routine. This year, I want to make it a point to find uses for my forgotten products (as well as new ones!), using different ones daily and trying daring makeup looks frequently.

#2 | Spend More Time with Friends
While I am glad to have had many accomplishments in 2014, it wasn’t without sacrificing some of my social life. As I’ve gotten older, my number of close friends has narrowed to a select few whom I really want to spend more time with in the new year. Especially since we are all graduating from university this year, it’s more important than ever to keep our bonds strong and cherish each moment.

#3 | A Healthy Smile
I’m super embarrassed to admit it, but I wound up with FOUR cavities this year! To be fair, this was the first year I went to the dentist since high school because of my insurance changing over. But seriously, I need to get my smile in check. That means brushing twice a day for two minutes with anticavity toothpaste. I’m also smiling brighter and more confidently thanks to Crest 3D Whitestrips, which I reviewed here. Soon, there won’t be any trace left of my soda addiction from years past.

#4 | Stay On Track with School
As I mentioned, by the end of this year I will be a college graduate! It will have only taken four and a half years, but it’s imperative that I stay on track in terms of grades and my class schedule so all goes as planned. I’ve managed to always swing a GPA between 3 and 4.0, so my goal is to graduate with honors.

#5 | Be Active
Regardless of being a clichΓ© resolution, being active and living a healthy lifestyle has been a priority of mine the past couple years. I’ve worked so hard to bring my cholesterol down, lose weight, and become stronger and healthier, and I want to keep it up! It’s been harder as I balance my day job, school and my blog, but I’m trying to make it a point to exercise at home, drink a LOT of water, and track my activity.

#6 | Be Generous

I’ve really been so lucky to have had what I consider a successful year, and I want to spread the love in 2015. It could mean agreeing to drive a friend to the airport, help someone with their school project, or donating money or goods to charity. I want to do more to β€œpay it forward,” because it makes someone else feel good and makes me feel good. Everybody wins!

#7 | Unwind and Rest Well
It’s no secret that I spread myself thin between all of my commitments. This makes for a ton of late nights and miserable mornings. Sometimes when I do hit the hay at a decent hour, my head is racing a mile a minute thinking about anything and everything. This year, I want to treat myself to good rest and sleep so I can recharge, relax, and prepare myself for being productive during the day. ZzzQuil has recently become a medicine cabinet staple for getting rid of those sleepless nights.

This year #StartsHere, and all of my necessities for keeping my resolutions alive came from Walgreens. If you share any of the same goals as me, you’re in luck. I teamed up with Walgreens to give away a prize pack to keep you on track for 2015 with beauty, health and wellness supplies.

  6. I resolve to get more organized and reduce clutter! With 2 kids it can be hard but I know it’s possible!

  7. Happy New Year! I made more of a goal than a resolution. lol My goal is to finish unpacking, organizing, and decorating my apartment. Fun! Thank-you!!

    1. Wow, that would be a rough one for me! Are you starting as a meat eater or a vegetarian?

      1. I eat vegetarian about 4 to 5 days a week. I’ve been doing that for the last year or so. I would love to be completely vegan; I feel so much better when I eat that way!

  8. My resolution is to work out 4 days a week (rather than my current 2) and take better care of my medical conditions so I don’t have as many flare-ups.

  9. My new years resolution….there’s so many! Save money, drink water, and eat healthy. There’s more, but that’s the main ones.

  10. One of my new years resolutions is kind of typical but i really want to loose some weight. I feel like everyone always chooses that lol.

  11. My New Years Resolution is to slow it down and live more in the moment! I always plan too much or dwell on the past and I want to change that.

  12. I broke my leg in November and may cast will probably be off in late January to mid-February. Once I’m able, I resolve to work hard at physical therapy!

  13. I don’t have a specific resolution this year, but one from last year that I will continue to keep is not going on the scale, if I feel good and like the way I look then my weight shouldn’t / won’t matter.

  14. My New Year’s Resolution is to finish my education. I only have a year and a half left of college and I will have my degree. The kids are finally old enough that I feel comfortable to go back to school. I even filled out the FASFA and applied to the college right near my house. There is no turning back now.

  15. I hope to become more daring as well! And resting well. Man… Thats going to be hard with my new bundle of joy we’re expecting in March!!!

  16. To only work during the hours the kids are in school! No sneaking and no working after they’re in bed!

  17. My #StartsHere New Year’s Resolution is to spend more quality time with my family especially my 6 year old son and husband now that I have graduated from nursing school with my BSN, RN…I feel like over the last 4 years I have missed out on so much with my son and it’s high time to put away the books and forget how to say “Mommy can’t right now son she has to do this paperwork or study for the next exam” and just live life to the fullest with my loved ones because you only live once!

  18. A pedometer is a great way to track activity and to motivate you to do more, it’s fun to see the steps/miles add up.

  19. My New Year’s Resolution is to exercise 5 days a week and eat a healthy diet. I have a friend that I will be exercising with to help me with my weight loss.

    1. Fantastic goal, Julie! That’s exactly what I did 2 years ago and I lost thirty pounds!

  20. Ok it’s going to sound odd, but my resolution this year is to listen to my records more! I have a huge record collection (like, actual vinyl record albums…yeah those things!) and I buy them frequently but rarely actually listen to them. My record player isn’t permanently hooked up to a sound system so I need to get that done. I have a thing for old music (pretty much anything older than me) and I typically have music playing all day through some device but my favorite is listening to them on records – there’s just nothing like it.

I love your list girl – any time you feel like you’re lost or may stray you just come back here and read what you’ve put down and it will get you amped to get back on track! I have no doubt you’re gonna have a kickass year. Can’t wait to see what it has in store!!

    1. Learning new recipes can be fun! I also have this resolution for my boyfriend and myself.

  21. Great list of resolutions! My resolution is to worry less about what others think/say and realize they don’t know me well enough to make those assumptions

  22. I resolve to keep a positive attitude and get out more. I’ve been so sad since my dad past last year; and I need to break out of it.

  23. Great list of resolutions. Yes, cherish your time with friends because after your graduation, chances of seeing them become less… and lesser.

  24. I want to try and be healthier, lose some weight is my main focus for 2015 summer and to spend as much time as possible spending time with my daughter πŸ™‚

  25. I don’t really call them resolutions, but I would like to be more focused on the things I want to accomplish. Happy New Year!

  26. My New Years Resolution is to budget more so I can save more money and to also make more time for friends and family.

  27. I have some similar resolutions/goals for 2015. I want to get back in shape after 3 years of bad habits & not having an exercise partner. Part of reaching that goal will likely involve getting a new dog to be my new exercise/activity partner. I want to start some blogs/YouTube channels (including one on beauty products) I’ve been talking about for over a year. I want to get out more & make some new friends in this new city. I’ve signed up to be an organizer on girlfriendsocial.com, so hopefully that will help with this goal…or just be fun. I’m also hoping to either upgrade to a full-time position or go back to grad school in August. I doubt I will give up my pop addiction, but I’m going to try to find some non-mint products to whiten my teeth.

  28. My big new years resolution is to no longer eat restaurant food, which includes the sub-resolutions to no longer consume other peoples saliva or things prepared with unwashed hands!!!!!!
