2015 MTV VMAs Makeup & OOTD
Last night, I had the absolute pleasure of joining CoverGirl at the 2015 MTV VMAs! Since I was pretty convinced that I’d end up being a pop star all throughout high school, attending this type of award show has always been my dream. Ain’t nothing wrong with ending up here because of my blog, instead! The night was full of surprises, as to be expected (or not) with Miley hosting.
CoverGirl sent me to the GLAMSQUAD salon on Sunset to get ready. I requested a bronze eye with a bold red lip, since my outfit was black and white. I’m so glad they used one of my fave drugstore mascaras, CoverGirl’s The Super Sizer, which I trusted would hold my curl all night. I wanted a low maintenance, comfortable lip that would still make a statement, so my makeup artist reached for the CoverGirl Outlast Longwear + Moisture Lipstick in Red Rogue, which is a cool toned red. I was super surprised that this lasted without need for touch ups through two glasses of wine and a spicy chicken sandwich after the show!
So real talk, I wore a crop top for the first time to the VMAs… and the world still kept turning! Sometimes I have the mentality that I can’t rock certain styles because of my body type, like I have had my whole life growing up overweight. But I actually put together an outfit that made me feel fierce as hell and actually showed a little stomach… because we only live once and I don’t have time not to admit that I’m loving how I look in this ensemble!
I got practically my whole outfit at Forever 21 after a five-hour hunt for the perfect look. I paired this shapely striped panel skirt that had a round, structured silhouette with a plain black crop top with a v-cut neckline to lengthen my neck. My accent was gold, accessorizing with this layered chain choker, and black & gold purse. The nude pumps are my go-to heels for everything, since they match practically any outfit, and I grabbed them on sale at Ross.
