I’ve got a quickie for you today: a super simple face of the day to celebrate Independence Day tomorrow! This Fourth of July makeup look is festive, yet classic and understated.
This quickie face is low maintenance but high on the patriotic scale. I skipped foundation since it’s been so hot lately, and just covered problem areas using Maybelline Master Conceal (full review here). I did a little bit of “strobing” with the City Color Glowing Complexion Illuminating Cream to highlight my cheekbones and add dimension to my face with a nice glow. To add a little color, I blended in the Pixi Sheer Cheek Gel in Rosy on the apples of my cheeks. For the brows, I just quickly ran the gel from the e.l.f. Eyebrow Kit through them.
On my eyes, I spread the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Creamy Beige all over the lid as a neutral base. To create the first part of my star-spangled makeup statement, I winged out the new mark. Saved By the Gel Eyeliner in Cool Azul from their Buenos Aires Vibe collection for summer. It’s a smooth and pigmented formula that’s also waterproof– great for 4th of July pool parties! I also grabbed the new Covergirl mascara, The Super Sizer, which has a waterproof formula that will hold up through anything.
On the lips, I’m rocking the NYX High Voltage Lipstick in Rock Star that is a very fitting red to complete the country’s favorite color combination.
This year, as always, I’m spending the holiday with friends, good food, a few drinks, and lots of laughs. Now that we’re almost completely unpacked from the move last weekend, I think I definitely deserve a little down time, don’t you think?
