FOTD Friday? Is this a new series that’s happening on this blog? Who knows. Let’s not put a label on it. Carpe Diem.
I’m jumping the gun on what is more often considered a “fall look.” I’ve always been partial to using deep, rosy shades around the eyes– so sultry and sexy, no? I lightened it up with some rose gold shimmer to keep it fun. On a side note, I’ve also been rocking my natural hair a lot more lately. For one, it’s just way too hot to hold a flat iron close to my face. Secondly, I have had the urge to dye it… so I want to give it a little time to restore itself.
For the Face:
I started out with the L’Oreal Miracle Blur Instant Skin Smoother (not pictured), and went on to spot-conceal my blemishes. I mixed the L.A. Girl Pro Conceal in 976 Pure Beige and the Mary Kay Concealer in Yellow to create a shade very close to my skin tone. I topped off with my holy grail drugstore foundation: the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup; my shade is Natural Beige.
I used the Mary Kay Brow Definer Pencil in Soft Black (not pictured) and a spoolie brush for my normal brow routine. I like this pencil because it has gray undertones, mimicking brow hairs and shadows– I need to find a drugstore pencil in this shade!
To contour, I used the e.l.f. Contouring Blush & Bronzer in St. Lucia with a smaller bronzing brush to really get a chiseled cheekbone. For highlighting, I applied the It Cosmetics Hello Light Creme Luminizer. This is one of my favorite cream highlights, though it’s not cheap– it adds a gorgeous champagne sheen.
For the Eyes:
I started out with the Bellapierre Makeup Base that I received in my Beauty Box 5 back in March. It’s a really thick, dry base that makes eyeshadow stick. While it’s sorta pricey on its own ($19), You only need a very thin layer for each application. I’ve hardly made a dent in it!
I’ve gotten in the habit of working from the outside-in with my eyeshadow. I started out with a burgundy shade from the Coastal Scents Revealed 2 Palette (review here) in my crease. I took a deeper rosy brown from the palette for the outer corner. I applied Colour Pop Super Shock Shadow in Amaze, a shimmery rose gold, all over the lid.
I did my go-to winged liner look using the Coastal Scents Liquid Eyeliner in Jet. I love how black this liner is, but I’ve only had it for a few months and it’s already starting to smell a little off… #concerned. I used the Mary Kay Lash Love Lengthening Mascara for long, defined lashes.
For the Lips:
I pulled the look together with the Too Faced Melted Lipstick in Melted Fig. I picked this puppy up at PHAMExpo for half off, and this is the first time I wore it. It looks a lot more purple toned in person vs. picture above.
What do you think? Are rosy looks reserved for fall?
