DIY Chocolate Face Mask Recipe
Post sponsored by Mirum Shopper but all opinions are my own.
Everyone deserves a little indulgence once in a while, and there’s no better excuse when you have the house to yourself, a full Netflix queue and absolutely no obligations. It’s so important to treat yo’self every once in a while and really give yourself a break to relax and recharge with some good old fashioned me-time.
I think chocolate has the reputation of being the epitome of indulgence, so what better way to take a night off than in chocolatey heaven? Today I have a recipe for a chocolate face mask to make on your next night that is the perfect skin treat to soothe and refresh a tired face.
Everything you need for this perfect, chocolatey night in can be found at Target.
Ingredients:
- cocoa powder (the darker the better) – contains antioxidants that help protect skin from UV rays and help maintain moisture!
- honey – moisturizes and helps combat acne
- plain yogurt – contains lactic acid which helps dissolve dead skin cells
- oatmeal – soothes inflamed skin and draws out dirt from pores
Fair warning: you will crave a chocolate snack while you make and wear this face mask. So, while you’re at Target, go ahead and pick yourself up a box of Magnum Double Dipped ice cream bars which all have multiple layers of delicious chocolate. My favorite are the Magnum Double Caramel which have vanilla bean ice cream dipped in a chocolatey coating, caramel sauce and milk chocolate. It’s the perfect pairing for your chocolate face mask and is just the right amount of indulgence for your night off.
Steps:
- Measure out about 1 tbsp of oatmeal. Using your fingers, grind the oatmeal by pinching and rolling it in your hand until it has a more powdery texture. Throw it in a mixing bowl.
- Mix 2 tbsp of cocoa powder in with the oatmeal.
- Add about one 8oz container of plain yogurt to the mixture.
- Finally, mix in 1 tbsp of honey.
Finally, transfer the mixture to a jar that can be sealed. This face mask will last in the fridge until the expiration date found on the yogurt container, so you can double dip later in the week for another skin treat. You can adjust the measurements if you want to make a one-time batch as well— I’d cut them down to 1/4 of the amounts.
You can apply the mask with your fingers or a brush, and let it sink into the skin for about 15 minutes. This is the perfect opportunity to dive into that Magnum ice cream bar. I’m serious— you’re going to be going crazy wanting chocolate at this point.
The cool thing about this face mask is that it will tighten as it dries, sort of like a GLAMGLOW mask, and once you rinse it off with warm water, your skin will be feeling extra smooth and refreshed.
This chocolatey pair is perfect for my personal favorite indulgence: binge watching TV while trying to catch Pokemon from inside my apartment.

This sounds amazing!
I love a good chocolate mask. I need to try this recipe.
Oh yum, I could eat both the mask and the Magnum!
I have a chocolate face mask and every time I use it I want something sweet hehe.
You are right about wanting the Magnum bar if I used this mask. If I didn’t eat it while the mask was on, I’d want it right after.
I have all of those ingredients in my pantry and fridge. Sounds like yummy fun!
