Beauty Mood Board: Goth Girl

October seems to have the power to bring out the dark side in all of us. With Halloween approaching and fall in full swing, we become a bit more daring with pushing the beauty envelope. From darker lipsticks to intricate eyeliner, we see a lot more wearable trends that have a gothic element.

Whether you want to step outside your comfort zone, or you want to channel your gothic alter-ego for Halloween, there are a few key components that can help transform your look.

    [1] Dark Lipstick
I’m not quite sure you can make any louder of a statement as you do while wearing dark lipstick. For those who want to go all out and rock the black, check out the NYX Macaron Lippie in Chambord. If you’re not ready for that much drama, pick up the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Transylvania, a deep violet.

    [2] Dramatic Lashes
Maybe your favorite mascara can cover this, but maybe you want lashes that will really catch eyes. Intensify your look with long, thick false lashes that will add mystery to every blink. Try out this Ardell Fright Night Dark Maiden Lash Duo, with a set for your bottom lashes, too!

    [3] Bold Hair
Although “gothic” can translate to “all black everything” for most people, I think you have a lot of room to play with funky colors— especially for the hair! If you don’t want to commit to a crazy change, try the Jerome Russell BWild Temporary Hair Color in Cougar Red. You can show off your bold hair, and wash it right out at the end of the night.

    [4] Black Nail Polish
The most prevalent archetype in gothic style also happens to be very on-trend this fall. Specifically, matte black polish has been everywhere since New York Fashion Week. Try the Pixi Nail Colour in Matte Black for a one-coat, full coverage black.

    [5] Black Eye Makeup
No gothic look is complete without some dark, sultry eyes. If you like the soft and smudgy look, opt for using a matte black eyeshadow as liner— I suggest the pigmented and affordable Wet n Wild’s Color Icon Single in Panther. Test your steady hands by trying out some graphic liner, like swirls or a double cat eye. Use a liquid liner that has a thin brush applicator for maximum precision, like the NYX Black Liquid Liner.

    [6] Heavy Metal
You don’t really have to get pierced to show off the rebel inside of you. Pick up some clip-on jewelry to wear on your nose, bottom lip, or eyebrow for the perfect finishing touch to your look.

    1. The pix of the people on the clip-on jewelry look like people who are wannabe Goths! Lol! That guy looks especially unconvincing. I love wearing black polish, though I usually add some glitter or nail art – not very gothic, I know! I have that Nyx Chambord, but have never worn it!
