5 Drugstore Beauty Products that Deserve More Attention
Out of all the holy grail products you hear your favorite bloggers talk about repetitively, there are so many others that deserve more love! Even in my own collection, I have several favorites that serve important purposes in my routine, yet I haven’t shared too much about them with you. I’ve been going through my collection, slowly decluttering, and I’m re-discovering beauty products that are seriously underrated. Either I’ve dropped the ball on sharing their amazingness with you, or I just think other influencers aren’t talking about them enough.
So today, I’m sharing five underrated beauty products that I seriously cherish in my collection. These have been well loved in my routine, even though I haven’t necessarily talked about them too much here on the blog. Keep reading to discover some of my secret favorites!
1. Pixi Natural Contour Powder ($20)
This is one of my favorite products to contour with because it truly lives up to its name— it looks so natural. While you can easily build it up for drama, the Pixi Natural Contour Powder is the perfect product for no-makeup-makeup too. The one downside is, it only comes in one shade and it’s best for light to medium skin tones. That could be the reason why you don’t hear a lot about this product. Either way, it’s incredibly smooth, blends easily, and kicks up my cheekbones a notch.
2. Note Cosmetics Terracotta Powder in Honey Warm ($17.99)
This was a newer addition to my collection over the summer, and I was floored with how gorgeous this highlight is. The Note Cosmetics Terracotta Powder in the Honey Warm shade is a golden champagne that offers a beautiful glowy sheen. Even though I’m wary of powder highlights, this one doesn’t accentuate any skin texture at all. The glow blends nicely with the rest of your face makeup and makes you look sun-kissed.
3. Covergirl Clean Matte BB Cream ($7.99)
This BB cream acts more like a lightweight foundation in my opinion. You get surprisingly decent medium (and buildable) coverage but it feels nonexistent on the face. The matte finish is smooth and comfortable, and doesn’t look dry at all. Keep in mind though, this is for oily skin. I love wearing this in the summer, or on warm vacations, when I need an even canvas and coverage for my acne but don’t want to pile on heavy product.
4. Maui Moisture Color Protection Sea Minerals Heat Shield Mist ($8.99)
Not all heat protectants are created equal. This one from Maui Moisture doesn’t just protect my hair and its color from the heat, but the mist also makes my hair feel as silky as a pro blowout. I’m left with very little frizz and knockout shine. It’s silicone and sulfate free, vegan, and made with pure oils and aloe extract. The smell is really yummy and fresh, too.
5. Jesse’s Girl Matte Finish Lip Color ($3.99)
I think Jesse’s Girl as a whole is very underrated in the world of makeup, but especially their Matte Finish Lip Colors. Out of all the matte liquid lipsticks that have been released over the years, these are still one of my faves. You get a true matte finish in a comfortable, thin formula that sets quickly. The shades are seriously opaque and last for hours. The shade swatched above is one of my go-tos, Angelic.
