New Favorites! Wet n Wild Megalast High-Shine Lipsticks Review
This week, we’ve been taking a closer look at the Wet n Wild Megalast lipsticks! In my last post, I swatched and reviewed the Mattes, and today I’m focusing on the High-Shine version. Out of the two finishes, I actually ended up preferring these a bit more, so let’s dive in!
Just like the Mattes, the Wet n Wild Megalast High-Shine Lipsticks are only $2.99, but definitely outperform the price tag. The formula is infused with Murumuru Butter, Mango Butter, and Sunflower and Watermelon Seed Oils that deliver a super balmy and moisturizing feel. They’re fragrance free and cruelty free, and will check a ton of “boxes” for many!
There are thirteen shades in this collection, keep scrolling for a closer look.
Row 2: Mad for Mauve / Rose and Slay
Row 3: Pinky Ring / Strawberry Lingerie
Row 4: Bellini Overflow
Row 5: Tanger-ring the Alarm / Fire-Fighting
Row 6: Crimson Crime / Raining Rubies
Row 7: Jam With Me / Sangria Time
You’ll get what the brand calls buildable coverage with these— they retain a bit of a glassy translucency but you can definitely achieve a vibrant wash of color with a few layers. Even when you build them up, they feel very light and thin on the lips with a slick consistency and glossy finish.
The Megalast Megashine Lipsticks glide on so easily, they’re a pleasure to apply. The texture lends itself to an easy swipe-on experience, and you don’t have to be as precise as you might with a more opaque lipstick when it comes to the lip lines.
As with most glossy or shiny lipsticks, these aren’t transfer-proof or smudge-proof, but they won’t feather or bleed as long as you stay within the lip lines. If you want to over-draw your lips, be sure to use a lip liner underneath first. The brighter shades (Strawberry Lingerie, Crimson Crime, Raining Rubies, and Sangria Time) leave a subtle stain behind which can help prolong the look.
Finally, I love how smooth this formula makes my lips look. It sort of blurs my lip lines for a plumper appearance, and completely concealed (and nourished!) my dry patches.
For $2.99, I think these are the best shine finish lipsticks you can get at the drugstore! One of my only complaints is that the neutral shades are all so close in tone (the first five shades in my swatches above) and I feel that the Mattes had a bit more variety. I’m looking forward to them expanding this collection more! Find them on Amazon here.
