5 Viral Skin Care Products Worth Trying at Walmart
Sponsored by Walmart. All opinions are my own.
New viral skin care products have been bombarding my social media feed recently, and I always wonder while scrolling, “How good/different can this actually be? Is this really worth adding to my routine?”
On a recent Walmart trip, I was stoked to find a ton of trending skin care products added to their beauty department– even from more prestige brands! I decided to pick up the products everyone’s talking about– and quite frankly, I’d been skeptical about– and put them to the test to determine whether they deserve the hype or are merely a passing craze. To my surprise, I had been wrong about each and every one.
Billie Razor & Shaving Cream
I’ll admit– this is the product I was most skeptical about. I’ve owned 5-blade razors before… they do just fine, so why is Billie’s the “Internet’s Favorite Razor”? I picked up the Billie Malibu Starter Kit ($9.97) which includes the razor, two blade refills, and a magnetic holder that you can stick on your wall to give your razor a dedicated spot in your shower. To get the full experience, I also grabbed the Billie Shave Cream ($7.97). To be honest, I thought Billie was only available online which is another reason I hadn’t tried it yet, but Walmart is now the exclusive retailer for the brand!
The 5 sharp blades on the Billie razor are nickel-free and rust free, and surrounded by aloe shave soap for extra glide. It’s also dermatologist approved for the most sensitive skin. Same goes for the shave cream, which uses shea butter, coconut oil and aloe vera to create a protective barrier and moisturize the skin.
Ya’ll… this pairing is witchcraft! Like I said, I was not expecting to be blown away by these but boy was I wrong. First off, the shave cream is super rich and luxurious. The razor glides over your skin while somehow still getting the closest shave I’ve ever had. Seriously– my skin was wicked smooth, and stayed like that for days. But more importantly: it felt soft and conditioned. I got longer lasting results, and these really performed like a luxury shaving routine but at a drugstore price. I’m officially a Billie razor convert.
Starface Hydro-Stars
I’ve been a fan of acne dots for years, but when I first saw the Starface Hydro-Stars Compact ($14.97), I 100% thought it was a gimmick. The star shapes were cute… but were they functional when it came to covering a whole zit? Also, they’re 100% hydrocolloid, which is clinically proven to improve the appearance of pimples overnight by drawing out impurities, and calming redness and inflammation. But I’m used to acne dots that also have some type of active ingredient at play, and I didn’t think these could handle my stubborn spots.
I will say… the cuteness won me over. I actually went out in public wearing these stars without a care in the world. I also accepted the functionality of the refillable case, which keeps them secure and easy to store or bring on-the-go. Plus, you can buy the refills in different sizes or colors, and the refills are cheaper than with the case.
But do they work??
Surprisingly… yes. I applied the stars to two spots on my face, and both saw improvement after wearing the stars overnight. One bigger spot was noticeably less red and raised the next morning, while the other one had come to a head overnight so I was able to get the sebum out easily with just a warm washcloth. The Hydro-Stars were gentle and didn’t leave my skin feeling dried out, either, so I can definitely see myself using these when my skin is feeling too sensitive for salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide, but I still want to spot treat.
Mario Badescu Gentle Foaming Cleanser
I’ve been stepping away from fragranced skin care recently in order to curate the best possible routine for my sensitive acne-prone skin. Despite being a fan of the brand for years, somehow I had missed the Mario Badescu Gentle Foaming Cleanser ($14) which is fragrance free, with skin-soothing Chamomile extract and restorative Evening Primrose Extract on top of brightening Fermented Black Tea!
The surprise here came from the fact that this is a foaming cleanser, which in the skin care world often means stripping. Usually the same ingredients that create lather and foam also strip the skin of its natural oils, but not in this case! This is a true goldilocks cleanser that I will definitely be returning to, as with regular use it kept my skin feeling fresh and clean but also balanced.
This is another brand I was excited to find in Walmart now, as part of their new BeautySpaceNK department with prestige beauty brands of makeup, hair, and skin care.
Foreo Make My Day UFO Masks
I was gifted the Foreo UFO device a couple years ago and just… never used it. I didn’t really “get it” and thought it was too extra for me, but when I saw that Walmart’s new BeautySpaceNK department had the UFO Activated Masks, it was just convenient enough to make me dig this out and give it a try. The masks fit both the full size UFO device (which I own) as well as the UFO mini ($59) which you can grab at Walmart now, too!
What is the UFO, anyway? It’s a power mask treatment device that uses thermotherapy, T-Sonic pulsations and LED light therapies to give you a spa-level treatment in just a minute and a half. It uses these technologies with the accompanying masks to infuse serum deeper into the skin and really maximize their effects.
While this may not be an essential for everyone, it only took one treatment for me to want to regularly add it into my self-care routine. The Make My Day masks ($9.99) left my skin well hydrated, plump, and super glowy. I’ve used them as both a morning makeup prep step or a night time mask and the results last well into the next day. Plus, the thermotherapy and facial massage the devices offer just simply feel nice and relaxing.
On top of the fact that all of these trending skin care products actually proved themselves effective, I was also super excited to find everything in one spot at Walmart, where I’m already shopping for a ton of my beauty staples.
Those UFO masks look crazy, definitely want to try that
It’s such a fun self care routine!!
