Physicians Formula Rosé Kiss All Day Lip Color Review
As I venture further and further away from being a daily liquid lip wearer, I am discovering so many new favorites, one of them being the Physicians Formula Rosé Kiss All Day Lip Colors. These pencil style lipsticks come in both glossy and velvet matte finishes, and offer extremely comfortable wear and gorgeous spring colors for every look and mood.
There are a total of twelve shades in this line, and I have all but two to show you. The current selection includes mostly neutrals with a few pops of brighter shades as well as a couple deeper reds and berries that I would gravitate to mores in Fall. The formula features Rose Water to help sooth, calm and hydrate the lips as well as antioxidant-rich Goji and Kakadu Plum which provides Vitamin C benefits.
Right off the bat, I think it’s important to note that these are old school, sharpenable pencils. They don’t twist up, nor do they come with a built-in sharpener. This is one of the most common complaints I keep reading in customer reviews, though I don’t think it’s that big of a deal personally. The pencil fits in the larger side of my NYX 2-in-1 Pencil Sharpener that I bought at Ulta Beauty for $5. A dual size pencil sharpener is a must-have in my book anyway, and this one sharpens these lip pencils smoothly.
Row 1: Blind Date / Sweet Nothings
Row 2: Love Letters / Blushing Mauve
Row 3: She’s a Wild Rose / XOXO
Row 4: I Do / First Kiss
Row 5: Hot Lips / Wine & Dine
The Glossy Lip Color formula is really interesting, as the pencil glides on with an impressive amount of color and a cushy glossy finish. You get all the shine of a gloss, but with the easy and precise application of a pencil— really cool! However, there were a couple shades I had trouble with achieving an even application of color, namely Blind Date and Love Letters. While the glossy pencils aren’t necessarily supposed to be completely opaque, these were just a bit too uneven for my liking. My favorite glossy color is Blushing Mauve, which is a gorgeous neutral. I was really impressed with the pigmentation of She’s a Wild Rose.
The Velvet Lip Colors are a dream. Even though I’ve been shying away from matte finishes, these actually leave my lips feeling soft and hydrated, not dry at all. In fact, I thought that these were actually a little more flattering on my slightly dry lips than the glossy formula. They completely smoothed over dry patches and left an even, opaque and even color. I definitely need to get my hands on the two I don’t have, because I can’t get enough of these. I’m obsessed with Hot Lips and will definitely be wearing it often this season.
Personally, since the sharpening isn’t an issue for me, the only downside of these pencils is the fragrance. While the entire Physicians Formula Rosé product line has a rose scent, this one leans a little too heavy for me. Although, it doesn’t linger too long so that’s good at least.
You can find the Physicians Formula Rosé Kiss All Day in Glossy and Velvet at Ulta Beauty for $8.49 each. They’ve been what I’m grabbing the most over the last couple weeks for both natural looks and full beat.
I love the shades in these! They are perfect for Spring! In love with the velvet finishes more than the glossy though! 🙂
I’d have to agree. They look soooo smooth!
