New Drugstore Makeup & Beauty Launches: August 2017
August has been sort of slow when it comes to new drugstore makeup. We saw a few new things pop up, though I believe we’re currently in the calm before the storm. What’s the storm, you ask? All the fall releases of course! We’re in that weird in-between where most of us aren’t quite ready for oxblood lips but we’re past the neon brights.
Nevertheless, we did get a few new additions to the drugstore beauty shelves. Keep reading to see what’s new, and don’t hesitate to request in-depth reviews of anything you see!
1. Rimmel InstaFlawless Conceal & Contour Palette ($6.99) & Conceal & Correct Palette ($5.97)
These new concealing palettes will be a handy addition to your collection.
The InstaFlawless Conceal & Contour Palette is designed to multi-task. Not only can you conceal any problem areas, but the multiple shades in each palette allow you to use it as a cream contour & highlight as well! The palettes are available in three shade selections (Light, Medium, and Dark) and seem perfect for traveling.
The InstaFlawless Conceal & Correct palette is all about color correcting. The compact includes three shades: peach for neutralizing dark circles, green for covering redness and lilac for canceling out dullness.
2. Models Own Celestial Collection
The UK favorite brand, Models Own, is releasing a limited edition Celestial collection. The brand recently dropped here in the US via Ulta Beauty, where you can find a couple products from the new line. The brand is also available through ASOS, though I find the prices to be a little higher.
The Celestial Enchanted Eye Palette ($24.99) keeps the pastel train going with soft shades ranging from coral to cornflower blue. I’ve had good experiences with Models Own eyeshadow palettes in the past, though they do tend to be a bit dusty. However, the pigmentation is pretty good and easy to blend.
The Celestial Lip Glitter Kit ($7.99) will have you turning heads with flashy glitter lips at your next festival or party. This loose glitter is applied using the included glue over your favorite lipstick to amp up your look. The kit comes with the glitter, glue and a dual-ended applicator. There are three shades currently— a holo glitter called Moon Dust, a red glitter called Cerise Star, and a rosy pink called Rose Meteor.
3. L.A. Girl Comes to CVS
L.A. Girl is a brand that is hyped up by pretty much any makeup lover, but can be hard to find. Now, it’s going to be more accessible than ever because it just dropped at CVS! You’ll be able to get all your L.A. Girl favorites from the cult-favorite concealer to the Velvet Blush Contour Sticks. There’s also a new CVS-exclusive: the Intense Stay Auto Liner that looks perfect for tightlining!
4. Real Techniques Expert Organizers ($8.99 to $17.99)
These. are. so. COOL. These pocket organizers stick to flat surfaces without any adhesives, suction cups or wall mounts. I’ve found them to be perfect for bathrooms that are short on counter space. I’ve put ours in our guest bathroom so friends can use them to set up comfortably when staying with us. They’re great for makeup brushes, and various makeup products. There are also small draining holes at the bottom so you can even use them for your toothbrush and toothpaste without worrying about pooling water. There is a single pocket in grey and a three pocket organizer in grey and pink.
5. e.l.f. Flawless Color Correcting Pen ($6)
Bear with me, we have one more color correcting product that launched this month. The e.l.f. Flawless Color Correcting Pens come in five shades to help even out your skin concerns. As opposed to their Color Correcting Sticks which were more of a cream stick, these seem to have a liquid concealer formula and a brush applicator tip.
The shades available are rose for brightening sallowness on light skin tones, yellow for brightening medium skin tones, green for concealing redness, peach for correcting dark spots on lighter skin tones and orange for correcting dark spots on deep complexions.
