Kate Somerville Signature Facial Review
As the holidays quickly approach, and winter is about to rear its head, it can be easy to forget to pamper ourselves when we need it most. I donβt know about you, but Iβm always the most stressed this time of year and I wear those emotions on my skin. Last week, I was in desperate need of a break from adulting and needed to relax. I decided to treat myself to my very first facial ever, and I canβt help but recommend it to anyone who wants to spoil themselves a little bit.
In Los Angeles, thereβs only one place you think about when you want an expert facial, and thatβs Kate Somerville. With 15 years of expertise behind the brand, celebrities and Angelenos flock to the Beverly Hills clinic and people all over the country turn to her products when they want to walk out with their best skin. The clinicβs services range from aesthetic to medical, but the atmosphere solely channels spa retreat.
I went in for their Kate Somerville Signature Facial, which is a 50 minute customized routine performed after the skin expert analyzes your skin type and concerns. My esthetician started out with the Purify Clarifying Cleanser, which awoken my senses with the peppermint oil and rosemary leaf extract. She followed by steaming my pores open and doing extractions on my current problem areas.
She followed up with face masks, serums, and even a light face, neck and arm massage. One of my favorite parts, however, was the βhigh frequencyβ exfoliation. My esthetician used a tool to literally zap my faceβ it felt like a little wave of electricity being shot into my skin. She explained that it helped bring oxygen to the surface of the skin and jump-start the skin cycle.
As I was getting my facial, my esthetician chimed in to explain what she was doing for me, as well as made suggestions that I could incorporate into my routine to help me keep my skin healthy and clear long after my facial. On top of the specific Kate Somerville products she thought would work best with my skin, she also recommended certain foods to incorporate and cut from my diet.
Immediately after my treatment, I left feeling not only relaxed but also informed about what my skin needs moving forward. At first, my skin was a bit red from the prodding it had endured, but a few hours later I could see the effects of the facial right away. My most stubborn blemishes were flat and I had a healthy glow and balanced feel to my skin. Even Adam noticed a difference!
With facials, I believe you get what you pay for, and going to a trusted clinic or spa is crucial in getting the best outcome with your skin. Since the Signature Facial at Kate Somerville is $140 (you can get a 20% discount if you become a member of their Skin Gym), it wonβt be something Iβll be able to treat myself with often, but is definitely worth it when Iβm at my wits end with my skin and need a place to unwind while my skin rejuvenates.
If youβre not in LA but want to have your own Kate Somerville facial at home, you can check out her products at Sephora. Like I said, theyβre not necessarily cheap, but the fact that I can see a huge difference in my skin from using them one time is testament enough.
My top recommendations if you want to test out the brand would be trying out one of the starter sets like the Blemish Banisher Kit which includes a lot of the cult favoritesβ would be a great wishlist item for the holidays! Otherwise, check out the skin care clinic in Los Angeles for a treatment your skin will thank you for!
Reading this takes me back to the facial I had at T-secret. Oh, they are such amazing, pampering experiences. This one sounds amazing, with the steaming and the zapping!
Ohh sounds like a wonderful experience!
I have two products from Kate’s line they were pricey but worth it.
What a fabulous looking SPA! I bet it was an amazing experience.
Sounds like you had a great experience.
I have never tried this brand, but have always heard great things. I love the sound of the facial you got. I love getting a facial and learning about what they are doing, what products they recommend etc. I guess it’s the skin care geek in me. π
I love getting a facial at a spa. Sounds like you had a great experience in this one. I’ll check out hr products next time I’m shopping.
I like the interiors of the place!
Sounds like a grand experience. The place is beautiful.
Wow, what a wonderful experience. Kate Somerville makes some amazing products!
What a beautiful spa! I love the KS scrub!
I have never tried anything from this line but I’m intrigued. Your facial sounds absolutely heavenly.
The few items I’ve tried from KS have been great. One day I need a facial from a trusted company like this.
I’ve been curious about her line!
I’ve always wanted to try her products because they have always caught my eye.But I just can’t get past the price specially in Canada, they are nuts they are more than in the US. Hopefully I can get my hands on some samples to try, what a great post thanks for doing a post.

I know what you mean, Katie. This brand is the epitome of you-get-what-you-pay-for, though. I would suggest trying out one of the starter kits so you can get a sampling of all the products at a discounted rate. Then you can see which ones you really like and can splurge on moving forward π
Gee, the look of the place reminds me of Georgette Klinger salon that used to be “the place” for a facial or massage in Manhattan before the family sold the business and subsequently went down the tubes. I would love to have a facial at a beautiful salon like that. Glad you did it!
It is gorgeous! What’s more is that it is a fully functioning medical skin clinic but it still feels like a spa when you walk in!
That’s a really good idea actually, I’ll check into one of those kits. Specially now with the holidays coming Sephora should have them. Also in Canada we only have some of her products not all.
