iPhone X: The Best Smartphone for Influencers?
As a full-time influencer, my phone is glued to me 24/7. I don’t just rely on it for communication and entertainment, but it is constantly being put to work as I manage my social media, create content and catch up on emails or bookkeeping. For bloggers, vloggers, instagrammers and other content creators, the phone you choose has the power to make your life so much easier.
I’ll start by saying: I’ve always been an iPhone girl. From my Blackberry, I went straight to an iPhone and have never strayed. This is not an iPhone vs. Android debate, so… let’s keep it that way, ya?
What I will be sharing is how upgrading to the iPhone X helped me work smarter and not harder, and why this particular model is the best for influencers, in my opinion.
Watch the video above for a full look at why the iPhone X is perfect for influencers. Keep reading for the main highlights.
1. Battery Life
The biggest difference in terms of usability when I upgraded from my 6s to the X was the battery life. With my old model, I would have to charge my phone mid-day without fail, hitting about 20% by 2PM. With the new iPhone X, I rarely find the need to charge before bedtime. Mind you, I’m tapping my phone and checking apps probably every 15 minutes throughout the day if not more frequently.
2. Best Camera Yet
The iPhone X camera was a huge step up from my last phone. The back camera shoots 12MP and the front is clearer than ever. There’s image stabilization to help you get the best shot, and up to 10X digital zoom (6X on video). Be sure to watch the video above for a zoom example. The iPhone X shoots video up to 4K for crystal clear memories. This is fantastic if you’re shooting things like scenery, sports, and other adventures where you want really crisp details. There’s noise reduction for videos to help reduce white noise and other ambient sounds. If you’re getting into vlogging or blogging, you could absolutely get away with using this phone as your starter camera! It’s not a full replacement for a DSLR— I still recently upgraded to a Canon T7i— but it’s a great alternative for on-the-go, events, and when you just want to travel light.
3. Portrait Mode
This deserved its own bullet point for the fact that the iPhone X is the first model with portrait mode on both the front-facing and back cameras. I think this is particularly valuable to influencers as it will seriously elevate your selfie game. It will also help you get great shots with that DSLR-like aesthetic without the help of someone else to hold the phone. It’s not a complete replacement of a DSLR camera, and I talk about some of the glitches it has in the video, but you’re going to get a similar look that you can use for great blog or Instagram photos. Check out some of the pictures I’ve taken with my iPhone X for this blog and my social media below:
4. More Storage Capacity
This one isn’t exclusive to the X model, but just the newer iPhones in general in case you’re still a few models behind. The newest models come with a storage capacity up to 256G! That’s a lot of space! Especially if you’re creating content daily and utilizing the large file sizes that 4K video and big images will create, every gig matters. I dread the day I get a “Not Enough Storage” pop-up… and I highly doubt it ever will now that I have so much room.
5. Smaller & More Compatible with Accessories
The iPhone X itself is larger than the standard size, but much smaller than the Plus. because of this, you’ll have an easier time finding compatible accessories than the Plus phones. I’m talking specifically about selfie sticks, car mounts, and anything else that clamps onto your phone. My favorite selfie stick for the iPhone X is the Yoozon, available on Amazon. It can be converted into a tripod, has a strong rubber grip, and can take both horizontal and vertical pictures. It’s a new essential of mine that I’m loving.
