10 of the Best Vegan Drugstore Makeup Finds in 2023
Drugstore makeup in 2023 is full of options for everyone’s checklist, and vegan drugstore makeup is becoming easier to find on shelves. As more people apply their ethics to their beauty shopping, the demand for vegan makeup has never been higher.
Would you be surprised to know that some of the most popular drugstore makeup on social media is vegan? Here are some of my personal faves:
1. e.l.f Power Grip Primer ($10)
Both the original Power Grip Primer and the new Power Grip Primer with Niacinimide are cruelty free and vegan– in fact, the entirety of e.l.f.’s product offerings are, too! This is hands down one of the most effective makeup primers for long wear, providing a tacky base for your foundation and face makeup to stick to. It can keep your makeup looking fresh for 12+ hours.
2. e.l.f. Halo Glow Liquid Filter ($14)
Another top pick from e.l.f. is their Halo Glow Liquid Filter, a multi-purpose product that enhances your glow. You can see how I’ve incorporated it into my routine in my review, but I’ve worn it as a primer, a skin tint, and a liquid highlight. Many claim it’s a dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter.
3. NYX Fat Oil Lip Drip ($9)
One of the most recent viral vegan drugstore makeup hits on social media is the NYX Fat Oil Lip Drip. This lip oil gives super high shine without stickiness, while hydrating the lips up to 12 hours with raspberry oil, cloudberry oil and vegan squalene. It’s cushy, it’s comfortable, and gives a hint of color that looks great across skin tones. While NYX is 100% cruelty free, only some of their products, like this one, are vegan.
4. NYX Matte Finish Makeup Setting Spray ($9.50)
Another vegan option from NYX that is a top drugstore pick: their Matte Finish Makeup Setting Spray. This spray helps extend the wear of your makeup up to 16 hours, and combats shine. It’s also available in a dewy version that helps add a boost of radiance to your look.
5. Covergirl Lash Blast Clean Volume Mascara ($12.99)
Covergirl was certified cruelty free by Leaping Bunny in 2018, around the same time they started launching vegan collections such as the Clean Fresh line. Their vegan Lash Blast Clean Volume Mascara is one of my favorites at the drugstore– you can see a before and after in my post about the best drugstore mascaras for short lashes.
6. Milani Color Fetish Matte Lipsticks ($9.99)
Milani is another brand that is 100% cruelty free, though only some of their products are vegan. Luckily, one of my all time favorite products of them makes the list– their Color Fetish Matte Lipsticks. These are my favorite drugstore matte lipstick, as they’re super pigmented and so comfortable, infused with castor oil and hyaluronic acid for a smooth application and hydrating feel. You can see swatches in my review here.
7. Milani Supercharged Brightening Undereye Tint ($10.99)
Another vegan option from Milani that I use all the time: their Super Charged Brightening Undereye Tint. It’s a color corrector that eliminates the shadowy appearance of under eye circles, giving that area a brightened glow instead! I use it on days where I’m not wearing any makeup, just for a more awake appearance, or underneath my foundation so I can use less concealer in the area.
8. Honest Beauty Creme Cheek + Lip Color ($17.99)
The Honest Beauty Creme Cheek + Lip Color is a gorgeous cream blush that blends easily and seamlessly on the skin. You can apply lightly, or build up for a more punchy pop of color with a slightly dewy finish. It’s one of the best Honest Beauty makeup products, and while not all of their products are vegan, the brand is cruelty free and clean.
9. Flower Beauty Dream Warrior Mascara ($11.99)
This is the newest vegan drugstore mascara to hit shelves and it’s already a favorite of mine. Their Warrior Princess mascara made my list of the best drugstore mascaras in 2021, but this one tops it! It’s super lengthening and volumizing, lifts and separates, and the pointed wand gets into each corner to coat every single lash. While Flower Beauty has been cruelty free since day one, only some of their products are vegan.
10. L’Oreal True Match Super-Blendable Foundation ($9.99)
One of the most iconic drugstore foundations just got a vegan makeover! That’s right: the L’Oreal True Match Foundation was recently relaunched in new packaging and a new, vegan formula made without animal-derived ingredients. With 47 shades available in cool, neutral and warm undertones, there’s absolutely a perfect match for you. This foundation looks so natural on the skin with medium buildable coverage. Check out my before and after using this foundation in my review here.
