BH Cosmetics Hangin’ in Hawaii Palette Review
Anyone else wish they were relaxing on a beach in Hawaii? Well, at least you can channel those sunny island vibes with the new BH Cosmetics Hangin’ in Hawaii palette! This eyeshadow palette has 16 warm and sunny shades and heavily features coral/pinks— perfect for the 2019 color of the year.
The palette leans mostly matte with a handful of gorgeous glowy satin shades. Just looking at the colors at first glance, you can clearly see completely looks piece together with the range of light, medium and deep tones. You all know that balance of finishes and tones is the number one thing I look for in palettes aside from the obvious (performance, pigmentation etc. So far, this palette is scoring!
As mentioned earlier, this palette leans warm with many versatile neutrals plus a few pops of pink and coral. I’d definitely describe it as a summery feel, but you’ll be able to get both everyday plus more glam and dramatic looks from it regardless of the season. I personally would consider this a great palette to travel with due to the packaging (there’s a full mirror inside!) and shade range.
As per usual with BH Cosmetics, the pigmentation doesn’t disappoint with the Hangin’ in Hawaii palette. The mattes are smooth and have intense color payoff, and the satins are out-of-this-world reflective and buttery. While they are rich, they’re also easy to blend, whether you’re combining shades or trying to diffuse and sheer out edges. Working colors together doesn’t result in muddiness— as you blend, the shades meld together seamlessly without losing intensity.
I do want to point out that the matte shades provide a lot of kickup in the palette. This is typical of such a soft eyeshadow formula. It makes the shadows feel silky and blend like a dream, but even the slightest pressure from dipping your brush in can result in dustiness in the pan. Not a dealbreaker for me, but just be careful with shades like “Tiki,” a brown that’s right next to “Ohana,” a light pink.
Overall, this is a great palette if you’re in a Spring/Summer coral mood or like warm eyeshadow shades in general. A lot of other warm palettes tend to lean deeper in color (with burgundies and terra-cottas) but this is a nice, vibrant alternative. At only $16, this is an awesome addition to any collection that needs a bit more brightness. It’s also cruelty-free and vegan!

If I remember correctly: Hibiscus as transition shade, Mahalo outer corner, Luau blending into Sandy on the lid, with Hula I think in the inner corner and brow bone!
