4 Best Full Coverage Drugstore Foundations
As someone who experiences acne and acne scarring, full coverage foundations are the backbone of most of my makeup looks. They offer me a blank slate to start with, so my skin is never a distraction. Out of the countless products on the shelves claiming to smooth, conceal and blur, I’ve found the four best full coverage drugstore foundations.
With combination skin, I feel like I get a good feel of what works across different skin types. With that said, what works best for me could vary from what works best for you. I’m not the only one who has raved about these four, though. So read on to discover which full coverage drugstore foundation is right for you.
1. Covergirl TruBlend Matte Made Foundation ($7.98)
If a matte finish is your jam, you’ll be hard pressed to find a foundation that beats this one. The Covergirl TruBlend Mattte Made Foundation has a soft matte formula that’s lightweight and comfortable… never tight. The liquid foundation contains mattifying powders that help absorb oil and combat shine. It fades only minimally throughout the day with no patchiness as it wears. I average about 9 hours of full coverage— on a hot day of sweating— while wearing this foundation. There are 50 shades in this foundation range, so you are most likely to find the perfect match here.
You can see how the foundation wore throughout the day in my video post here.
2. Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation ($9.99)
If you need something heavy duty that’s going to last from early morning to… well, early morning the next day, this 24 hour foundation is the best choice. The Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation not only gives you the highest coverage you’ll find at the drugstore, but it lasts with an all-day smooth finish to boot. This foundation is on par with high end products, though does feel slightly thicker than the other foundations in this post. Because I have acne-prone skin, I save this for special circumstances instead of an every day foundation.
3. L’Oreal Infallible Fresh Wear 24HR Foundation ($14.99)
If you want coverage that is going to look as natural as possible, here’s the foundation for you. You really can’t go wrong with any of the Infallible foundations from L’Oreal when it comes to Coverage, but this has been my favorite thus far. This formula is the thinnest and lightest of all the foundations here, but doesn’t skimp on coverage. Your first layer will be medium/full, and you can layer once more where you need extra help. The finish looks barely there, a bit radiant but neither dewy nor matte. It’s long wearing, sweat, water and transfer-proof, plus it’s noncomedogenic and great for acne-prone skin like mine.
4. Believe Beauty Skin Finish Foundation ($5)
Cheap, full coverage, comfortable, and looks great on most skin types? It’s true… the Believe Beauty Skin Finish Foundation is a home run. This is a Dollar General exclusive from their in-house brand that has a ton of gems and nothing over $5. The finish is smooth and healthy-looking, and it will help even out your complexion without feeling heavy. This is another foundation that delivers nearly full coverage with only a thin layer, and I spot-apply over any particularly stubborn discoloration to achieve complete coverage. It layers and blends like a dream and stays looking smooth without falling into lines throughout the day.
