How to Take Makeup Off Without Wipes

It’s a dreadful moment when you’re getting ready for bed, about to take off a full face of makeup and realize… you don’t have anymore makeup wipes left. The horror! I’ve been in this position before and it’s never fun. Taking your makeup off at the end of the day is crucial for healthy, clear skin. Even when I’m too tired for my full skin care routine, I never skip makeup removal. Luckily, even if you don’t have wipes, you probably have items at home that will take makeup off just as effectively— if not moreso!

Oil Cleanse with Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, or Jojoba Oil

You can use oils that you may have in your pantry, or use in other steps of your beauty routine, to take off your makeup and cleanse your skin. Gently rub coconut oil, olive oil or jojoba oil into your skin and over your eyes. You’ll start to see your makeup melt away with minimal effort required. Run a washcloth under hot water and use that to wipe your skin clean. If you still feel a bit too oily afterward, follow up with some witch hazel or your face toner to finish the job.

Use Vaseline to Remove Eye Makeup

I used Vaseline to take my eye makeup off for years. I wouldn’t recommend using it on the entire face if you are sensitive, acne prone or have oily skin due to how greasy it is, but it’ll definitely get heavy eye makeup and matte lipsticks to wipe away easily. If you absolutely need to use it to remove foundation, try applying a small amount to a cotton round, and swipe that over your skin. Rinse your face with warm water and wipe your face clean with a washcloth. Again, following up with toner will help remove any residue left over.
