Everyday Smoky Grunge Makeup Tutorial
It’s easy to get stuck in a neutral makeup black hole, donning a fresh face daily. Low maintenance, classic, and pretty standard for this season, am I right? But I feel like I need to start challenging myself and stepping outside the box so I can discover new looks I like wearing.
Over the weekend, I was feeling a bit crazed with my never-ending to do list, but I wanted to play around with a few new additions to my makeup collection to create a look I haven’t worn before.
I ended up with this sultry and smoky grunge makeup look that I’m super digging. It’s sort of a modern spin on a 90s look, keeping the face pretty plain– only warming it up with contour and bronzer– and putting all the focus on the eyes and lips. I love how the deep eye shades make my brown eyes pop!
I’ve had a hard time finding a look to incorporate the Colour Pop Lippie Stix in Wet into, but it worked so well with this color scheme and mood.
While it’s smoky, I still feel like this is light enough to be worn out casually. If it’s a little too bold for you, switch out the lipstick for something neutral.

Silvery gray- and lavender- browns were my favorites during the ’90s. Love this look. It’s very pretty on you!
Thanks so much, Rachel! I’m really digging them lately!
Love this look! I was really into grey shades of eyeshadow when I first got into makeup, and of course drifted off into bronze and taupes. But this makes me want to bust them out again!
I totally know what you mean. It’s nice to break out of the norm once in a while 🙂
Pretty sure I can’t pull off Wet, but I really love that smoky eye! It really does make your eyes pop. I’m encouraged to give the smoky eye another try!
You’ll never know until you try 🙂
Yesss! I love it!
Thank you Rebecca!!! 🙂
