Chunky Sneaker Trend: Get on Board with Fila Disruptor 2
This is a sponsored post in partnership with FILA and Her Campus Media. All words and opinions are my own.
In most of my fashion posts, I stress how much I try to balance function and fashion. So with the return of many 90s/early 2000s trends, I’m probably most stoked about the chunky sneaker trend having another big moment. Statement shoes that are also comfortable? Sign me up… again!
I was really excited to partner with Fila on this look because their Disruptor 2 sneaker is my favorite of all the chunky silhouettes. It’s an authentic 90’s classic they brought back and people are going nuts for it worldwide.
The reason I love the Fila Disruptor 2 sneakers best is because while they are stocky, I don’t think they don’t make your feet look bigger or longer than they are, because the bulk is mostly in the sole of the shoe. Because of this, you get a good inch or so of extra height— which of course I love, being 5’4”. With that said, the body of the Disruptor 2 is well padded and extremely comfortable. I could walk all day in these without complaint. I especially like how high they come up on the ankle for support.
So I’ve seen a lot of people style the classic white sneakers, but I think what’s awesome about this relaunch is that Fila included fashion colors like this bubblegum pink to mix things up! They might seem intimidating to style, but I’ve actually found the pink Disruptor 2 sneakers match a lot of my every-day outfits, adding a streetwear spin. They definitely add a pop to any look, and I find them to go best with other pinks, gray, red, navy, and neutral colors.
This is my fave outfit to style the pink Disruptor 2 sneakers with, because I seriously feel like I just hopped out of Bayside High. Of course I had to go for some high waisted jeans rolled up at the cuff so the sneakers can be seen in their full glory.
While you can totally let the sneakers be your splash of bright color, it’s also easy to make them look more cohesive when you accessorize with small touches of pink and rose gold. I threw on this pink mini-backpack and pink mirrored sunglasses, plus swapped my watch strap for a rose gold band. These small accessories were just enough to tie the look together without going overboard.
The thing with chunky sneakers is, they really go with most casual outfits. When I first unboxed my pink Disruptor 2 sneakers, I thought they were going to be once-in-a-while statement shoes, but I’ve been slipping them on practically every other day. At the end of the day, chunky sneakers are perfect everything shoes that I’ve been wearing to brunch, on errands, on day adventures through downtown Vegas, and traveling– they seriously step up my airport style game!
So if you’ve been on the fence about jumping on the chunky sneaker trend, I say dive right in! They’re trendy, they’re comfortable, and will let any causal outfit make an impact. Find them on Amazon!
Such an adorable look. Beautifully styled and synced . And your tattoo is cute
Aw thank you so much!
they match your camera so well! Pink is totally an insta-perfect color!
Those are super cute!!! I’ve tried chunky sneakers but my clumsy butt doesn’t mix well with them so I only wear occasionally and in a safe environment! lol!
I forgot that we both had cat ankle tattoos! You look great in these shoes – I love how the pink pops against the jeans. I didn’t wear chunky shoes in the 90s but I love that the 90s are coming back!
I love these sneakers and I love that pink shade.
I love pink so those would be fun. You look great in the whole outfit.
I used to wear a lot of Fila. I like their stuff. I could totally go for some pink kicks.
OMG, I love the colour of these! Who wants white when you can add colour? I’m actually wearing my mint (with some dark grey) Fila shoes right now!
You are too cute – I love those shoes on you!
Love the pink shade for the sneakers! I’m all about function and fashion and fun and unique colors are always a plus.

These aren’t my style but you rock ‘em!!! I love some of the 90s makeup and flannel top trends coming back!
