Budget-Friendly Mother’s Day Gift Basket: Celebrating Virtually
Sponsored by Mirum. All opinions my own. #HappyMotherDaughtersDay #walmart #ad
Now that I live in a different state as my mom, sometimes it can be hard to spend Mother’s Day together. My mom’s birthday is also within a couple days of Mother’s Day (sometimes they land on the same day, actually!) so it’s doubly important, near or far, I show her how much I appreciate her!
If you’re also not able to spend Mother’s Day with your mom or mother figure, sending a surprise through the mail is always a thoughtful gesture. It doesn’t have to be expensive, either! This year, I put together a Mother’s Day gift basket with an at-home spa day theme. I found everything at Walmart and was able to pamper my mom from 500 miles away. I picked up a few products for myself, too, so we could relax together virtually.
What to include in your Mother’s Day gift basket:
Skin Care
Whenever I have an at-home spa day for myself, skin care is the first thing I indulge in. For my mom’s basket, I slipped in a jar of Pond’s Rejuveness Anti-Wrinkle Cream. It was important to me that I chose a product that was dermatologist tested and hypoallergenic, because I know my mom has sensitive skin and is very selective when it comes to face products. This particular cream is great for daily use, with AHA and collagen in the formula to help smooth the appearance of fine lines within two weeks! It also contains Vitamin E— one of my favorite skin care ingredients.
Pond’s is such a classic beauty brand, it’s been a part of women’s routines for years… and I was able to find a product that sounded perfect for me, too! The Pond’s Clarant B3 Normal to Dry Skin Dark Spot Corrector was practically made for me. I struggle with dryness and dark spots left over from acne, and this moisturizer helps fight uneven skin tone and diminish dark spots. Again, hypoallergenic, which is great because my skin has been freaking out lately.
Bath Products
My mom and I are both big fans of baths to relax and rejuvenate after a long week. I picked up some muscle-soothing bath salts, since she’s had a few injuries lately and has been battling achiness. An exfoliating brush was another inexpensive “spa-like” item. This particular one was double sided with a brush, pumice stone and foot file all in one. Since I also included a small bottle of nail polish, she has what she needs for an excellent DIY pedicure!
Treats
Who doesn’t like receiving sweet treats? A few chocolates and a mug of tea are perfect choices to enjoy in tandem with a spa day.
With the help of a little technology, we could both chit chat while having our own mother/daughter at-home spa day over FaceTime. My mom loved receiving her basket in the mail and was excited to dive in. More than anyone, she totally deserves a relaxing day to herself and I was happy that I could give that to her from a state away!
So Mom, if you’re reading this, thanks for everything you’ve ever done for me and continue to do daily. From emotional support to literal technical support (oh yeah, she’s a big part of helping Slashed Beauty stay running!) you have always been there to inspire me and push me to pursue my passions. Without your influence, who knows what I’d be doing now? The fact that you continue to follow your own dreams, and try new things fearlessly, motivates me immensely.
If you’re not able to spend Mother’s Day with your mom, head over to Walmart to pick up some Pond’s products and other bits and bobs to create your own gift basket. She’s sure to love the gesture of hand-picked items.
Lovely idea and I was wondering where you got that basket from? So cute!
It was from Walmart last year as well!
I checked the walmart near me and I did not see it. What walmart do you go to?
well, this was posted last year so it’s very possible they don’t carry it anymore.
I found it at my store and on Amazon. Thank you!
Perfect!!! Glad you found them. They’re great for organizing!
Great idea and i was wondering where you got that basket from? So cute!
You’re too cute. My Mom passed in 2013 but I have both a mother-in-law and a step mother-in-law so I have plenty of people to buy for. I love that I can get everything from Wal-Mart which is just down the street! Great ideas!
This is a fun idea for moms who are into beauty. My mother usually just wants a ‘fishbowl margarita’ 🙂
Moms are the best! What a fun/Cute idea! I’ll be making a brunch and dinner I think. Haven’t decided on the gift yet!
Thanks for the Ponds recommendation! I ran out of my usual face cream two nights ago and found out they don’t make it anymore. I will give this a try! 🙂
I loved the basket! But somehow that chocolate didn’t make it through the mail! lolol!
It was milk chocolate 🙁
This is such a cute gift idea! My mom would love this!
My mom is in CA so we facetime frequently. She’s also the lucky recipient of some of my makeups and skincare stash so Mother’s day or not, she actually gets boxes from me.
Love this idea! I haven’t given a proper gift basket in years, but I remember that my giftees always liked them.
I love this idea for mother’s Day!
What a beautiful basket and it looks like it’s filled with love. You’re lucky to have a mom who appreciates these and supports you so much.
This is a cute idea for a mom who likes this stuff!
I have to always send stuff to my mom – but a I also send gifts to my grandmother and both my sisters who are moms. I love sending them all stuff to let the know I am thinking of them and letting them know they are awesome mothers.
I think baskets of goodies are always the perfect gift. I love the idea of budget friendly as well.
Love the idea of building a basket! I like to get special treats off etsy that are made is small batches instead of buying in the store. She really likes them!
Great idea to feature budget friendly Mother’s Day gifts.
