Transition to Fall Outfits: Zaful Haul & Review
It’s been a little difficult for me to get in the fall spirit when it’s still over 90 degrees every day here in Vegas. While it may still feel like summer, I’m trying to adjust my wardrobe to be more appropriate for the season of pumpkins and falling leaves.
Recently, I was given a shopping credit for Zaful and thought I’d pick up a few new outfits for the transition to fall. Zaful is an online clothes and accessories retailer that ships straight from China and has been becoming popular on social media for their trendy styles at budget-friendly prices. However, they do seem to bee a bit hit-or-miss when it comes to sizing and quality. I was excited to see how the clothes would work for me and my body type. You can see everything I picked up in the video at the top of the page, but I wanted to highlight a few of my favorite pieces that I grabbed.
It’s time to trade in my tank tops for something with a bit more coverage for the windy weather coming up. I picked out this polka dot v-neck blouse that helps dress up my denim. The blouse has long sleeves that can be rolled up and buttoned, which is how I’m wearing it for the beginning of fall while it’s still warm. I’m wearing a size Medium, which still has a pretty flowy, relaxed fit on my size 8 frame.
The blouse is on the thinner side when it comes to material, so I suggest letting it air-dry after washing to avoid thread pulls. It’s the slightest bit sheer, so I wear a nude bra underneath.
One of my favorite items I picked up from Zaful was this button up denim skirt. This skirt is actually advertised shown with suspenders, but the straps are removable and I don’t wear them the majority of the time. I was incredibly impressed with the quality of the denim— it’s thick and sturdy, and the size XL fit me perfectly around the middle to wear as a high-waisted skirt. Though, sometimes in photos I notice a bit of pull at the buttons around my widest part, my lower stomach.
Something interesting to know: this skirt actually comes without button holes. Like, they’re stitched out, but they’re not cut out. That’s something I had to do myself, which apparently is common when buying from Asian countries. If you watch the video at the top of the page, I show how I cut out the button holes without ruining the skirt. I used sewing pins at the top and bottom of the area I was cutting, then took a box cutter to slit between the pins. Avoid the stitching so that you don’t run into fraying denim as you wear and wash the skirt.
I paired this outfit with my new Adidas Cloudfoam Advantage sneakers and my Scala Sydney Hat from Tenth Street Hats.
Another favorite from my haul were these high-waisted gingham ankle pants. It’s really hard for me to find high-waisted pants that fit me right, because I have a long torso. But these hit me exactly where I want them to! I think they’re very edgy, and I’m loving the double zipper detail in front. The pants are also on the thinner side when it comes to the material, with a bit of stretch to them as well. I love pairing them with plain crop tops, letting them be the statement of the outfit. I originally ordered these pants in an XL, which corresponded to size 8 on the sizing chart, however the waist ended up being a bit loose. I sized down to an L and they’re perfect now.
Unfortunately the top that I paired with these pants, while such a cute design, didn’t show up in the best shape. There were rips in the seams on both sides of the shirt, which was super disappointing. Luckily, I think I’ll be able to patch them up easily with my sewing machine, but that’s not something I necessarily feel like doing with new clothes, you know? Also, this material was extremely sheer, and I felt like you could still see my nude bra pretty clearly underneath.
Overall, my Zaful haul was about 50/50 for clothes that I loved and ones that didn’t turn out. It’s a gamble, but the pieces I enjoy will definitely get a lot of love this season!
